Australia vs England - The Ashes 2021/22

..and that is fine. I used to rate him too back in his early days after he led Australia to a Under 19 World Cup. Hoped that he'd be able to make the switch to state red ball cricket and beyond. I copped plenty of flack pushing his Test case yet when he finally did make a baggy green cap he contstantly let down all of us.
He's fine with it. It's just that there are better players than what he is who are taking his spot.

13 matches spread over three/half years.. that is very slow. @24 average is just not sufficient for Test cricket. Luckily CA still has hope in him.
As long as he is playing like an australian cricketer and isn't out injured which is why he's missed a lot of cricket he is good as anyone else.

He's not some ordinary cricketer.

I reckon in the next few years we will be seeing Liam Livingstone playing in England's test team as an opener.
He's currently trying to play the shorter forms of the game and also trying the longer forms of the game.

Sooz Mitch Marsh is a terrific white ball batsman because the ball does not move and he has a great eye and immense power. But he lacks the technique needed at Test level. He plays with hard hands, his footwork is slow and he is too loose against the moving ball. He has been given countless chances and still averages well under @30. Only a little better at FC level.

Also there are no slips. Honestly the bloke is an A grade limited overs bat…but we’ve tried this Marsh as a test player thing 30+ times. He’s statistically the WORST number 6 we’ve ever had

As does Renshaw and Handscomb if we are going to recall anyone. Prefer those two over Maddo to be honest.

Prefer finch to be fair but as finch is only coming back from injury i'm happy with Usman there.
Renshaw and maddinson are t20 players

Sooz are you having a loan? Finch is like Marsh.. a white ball specialist. He was tried in Test cricket last year, or was it the year before, and was found wanting against the moving ball. Renshaw plays both formats. He is back to the red ball form of when he was chosen to play his first Test at 21.

Renshaw gets out too quickly

Finch was well and truely found out last time and he was one that was punted on limited overs form. It doesn’t work

Handscomb’s technique
Looks to have ironed out those flaws he once had. Is standing shallower in the crease and now covers his off stump. Averaged almost @40 Test with that poor technique, imagine what he will average if given a recall when he is more mature and better technically.
