BBL Chat thread

Just the one game tonight, the Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers game has been postponed due to issues with Heat players contracting COVID-19. In the game tonight, the Adelaide Strikers were too good for the Hobart Hurricanes and scored an easy win which lifts them to sixth on the ladder while the Hurricanes remain in fifth place.

Tomorrow sees the Melbourne Renegades host the Heat in the earlier fixture at 3:05pm AWST (6:05pm AEDT, 7:05am UTC) while Perth Scorchers take on Sydney Thunder in the second match during the evening at 6:15pm AWST (9:15pm AEDT, 10:15am UTC).

That was a great game of cricket have to say I much prefer 140-160 run games. You are always in the game

I agree, it was a good game and both sides were in the match on a deck that offered everything for all players during the game.

Sixers need to bounce back next match.. Philippe and Vince need a return of their mojo too to again get us off to crackers.

Never mind we will find an able replacement. More worried about Philippe. Started the comp with a massive bang but has dropped off last few games. Two blobs on the trot.

Didn't watch the cricket last night because we had thunderstorms preventing us from watching it last night.

Sad to hear about the Heat and the Stars being affected by covid. Hope they all recover.

Siddle was fantastic basically and Hobart batted horribly. Subbed in the worst X factor bat you’ll see who got 6 from 17 lol

Short batted well in reply but that was a 170+ pitch was never enough

Today's games saw the Renegades thrash a COVID-19 depleted Brisbane Heat in the early game while Sydney Thunder got up against Perth Scorchers at Carrara. The Renegades' win sees them move up to fifth place, the Heat drop to sixth while the Scorchers and Thunder remain first and third respectively with the Thunder trailing the Sydney Sixers only by net run rate as both sides now have 23 points.

The BBL is also relocating to a hub in Melbourne given the ongoing COVID-19 issues. Some games will be moved to Melbourne however the competition will try to ensure that as many games as possible are played in a side's home state where practicable.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, there is no game tomorrow night with that match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars being postponed, this is due to most of the Stars' squad getting out of quarantine tomorrow and having to fly to Adelaide poses too many issues. The next games in the BBL are on Saturday, Melbourne Renegades host Sydney Thunder at Docklands in the early match at 3:05pm AWST (6:05pm AEDT, 7:05am UTC) while the later game has the Brisbane Heat hosting Hobart Hurricanes either at the Gabba or in Melbourne (TBC) at 5:30pm AWST (8:30pm AEDT, 9:30am UTC).

I watched maxwell bat the other night and he looks sadly out of form at the moment. I hope he can turn it around because i love watching him bat when he's in good form.

Tonight's matches saw Sydney Thunder thrash Melbourne Renegades, the Thunder scored 7/209 from their 20 overs led by Daniel Sams' 98 not out from 44 balls while Alex Hales returned to form with 63 from 28 deliveries. The Renegades were all out for 80 in reply, things fell apart after Shaun Marsh was run out for just eight and didn't get any better from there as the Renegades were rolled in 14.2 overs. The Thunder secured victory by 129 runs which is the third biggest win ever in the BBL, five of the eight biggest defeats in terms of runs across the competition's history have been against the Renegades.

The later game saw Brisbane Heat post 8/144 from their 20 overs led by Lachlan Pfeffer's 69 from 51 balls, one of the Heat's replacement players with the side hit by COVID-19. The Hurricanes however chased the target down with 16 balls to spare, reaching 2/145 from 17.2 overs. Ben McDermott continued his rich vein of form, posting 93 from 61 balls to lead the Hurricanes' chase.

After tonight's games, Sydney Thunder now sit in second place while Hobart Hurricanes have consolidated fourth position. Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades are now fifth and sixth respectively with the sides switching places after the Heat secured the Bash Boost point against the Hurricanes.

Tomorrow's game sees Sydney Sixers hosting Perth Scorchers at Coffs Harbour International Sports Stadium starting at 4:15pm AWST (7:15pm AEDT, 8:15am UTC).
