Big Bash League 2014/15

Carbattery better something or at least get out very quickly so he doesn't soak up a heap of deliveries spudding it up.

Should be a good game between Perth and Brisbane, hope we get to bat first.

A couple of good wins by the Scorchers and then a season saving win by the Renegades down in Hobart. Carberry was particularly impressive in the game earlier tonight for the Scorchers with 77 off 37 balls, his last 69 runs came off just 28 deliveries.

Standings after Match 20

Code:
Teams M W L T N/R Pts NetRR

Adelaide Strikers 5 4 1 0 0 8 +1.154
Perth Scorchers 6 4 2 0 0 8 +0.843
Sydney Sixers 5 3 2 0 0 6 +0.003
Sydney Thunder 4 2 2 0 0 4 +0.064
--------------------------------------------------
Melbourne Stars 5 2 3 0 0 4 +0.004
Hobart Hurricanes 5 2 3 0 0 4 -0.403
Melbourne Renegades 5 2 3 0 0 4 -0.733
Brisbane Heat 5 1 4 0 0 2 -1.242

Overall it's the Strikers and Scorchers on top, one more win for either of those sides would secure them a finals berth. The Heat would need to win every game from here quite heavily and hope results go their way so they look out of it at this stage. Interesting to see four teams on four points although the Sydney Thunder have a game in hand. The Stars and Renegades play in Round 2 of the Melbourne Derby on Saturday at the MCG but with heavy rain forecast for Melbourne that day you'd say that game will struggle to go ahead. It's a similar story for Hobart on Sunday afternoon when they host the Scorchers with rain also forecast there that day.

A pretty good tournament so far though, the last few games should prove to be very good with the closeness of the ladder at the moment.

Will be interesting to see the Thunder play at Spotless Stadium tonight at the first game of cricket at the venue, 10-15k people in the 80k ANZ Stadium was horrid, the 25k seat Spotless should make for a far better atmosphere.

I didn't expect much from the Heat this season with one of the weaker squads. Still disappointing though. The Wellington of Australian cricket!

The Heat must have recruited Freddy Flintoff to be the team joke teller or something because he looks so underdone to be trying to actually play cricket.

Must be hard for Cosgrove to concentrate on playing cricket with all the KFC logos around in this comp.

Poor Thunder start at 3 for 27.

And now an injured Hussey gets knocked over to make it 4 down.. Come on at least scratch out some sort of a total to make a bit of a contest.

They're very average. The side at the moment is made up of a lot of nothing all-rounders and a lack of specialist players. Dan Christian, Ben Cutting, James Hopes and Andrew Flintoff in the one side isn't pretty. Hopes is a wily fox but Christian is a dud, Cutting's bowling has dropped off massively and Flintoff hasn't played cricket for five years. The loss of Joe Burns and the drop in Chris Lynn's form has also hurt them considerably. Daniel Vettori hasn't bowled well either.

I'm surprised they recruited him to be honest, he played a few second XI games for Lancashire, played three T20 games for them and suddenly gets a Biig Bash contract after some so-so county form. He's given a good insight into the game though and seems to be a top bloke.

Well that game was a stinker.

Pitch playing some pretty uneven bounce need to sort that out.

The highlight was Ricky Ponting saying that Mark Cosgrove falling over was akin to a whale beaching itself.

lol, missed that comment. It was hilarious a couple years ago when idiots on BF were saying Cosgrove should get a Test call up and who cares about his weight when he's making runs. Sure if he was just a bit pudgy or something Boon or Lehmann style and I know some people struggle naturally with their weight but seriously the bloke must be about 30kg too fat to be healthy. What does that say about the bloke's attitude? Anyone half serious would see a nutritionist or something and hire an extra trainer and at least have a crack at getting themselves into a reasonably respectable condition for playing. Obviously just CBF.

Got back from the pool today just before 4 expecting to be able to enjoy the Hobart v Perth game then realise it was a day game and already over..

Oh well at least we won
