Apparently Nightcliff century man Devine is out for the season with an off field injury. Unfortunate if true, considering he would be looking at possible NT selection.

Should hopefully only be out for one game, 2 max. His intentions are to be back next game. Was running around at training last night 2 days after surgery.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Round 9 - Saturday 19th & 26 June
PINT v BYE
Waratah v Southern Districts - Marrara (1)
Darwin v Nightcliff - Kahlin Oval
Tracy Village v Palmerston - Tracy Village Oval

Waratah and Southern Districts are virtually playing for the wooden spoon this round. Their batting is comparable but Districts bowling is far more consistent and should be the difference between the two sides.

Darwin host Nightcliff who are on a roll. Both sides have shown the ability to collapse early. Nightcliff will be missing Devine who has held their lower order together while Darwin are without spearhead Troy Ryan. Tigers should be too strong.

Tracy Village and Palmerston is the match of the round and Palmerston should truly be tested here. It will come down to which side is most discipline with their bowling.

Tahs to Win if Green/Gardner/Piercy/Borgas all contribute.
Nightcliff in a canter!!
Palmy to strong with runs on the board.

The four players you've mentioned will have to get the runs, because once they've lost five wickets, Tahs are as good as all out.

While Darwin are unproven in chases, Kahlin is the best wicket to bat on in the competition, so unless Tigers get early wickets will be a difficult day.

Last team to come close to chasing a 300+ total at TV was a tie back in 2007 against Tahs. Village have the batting to chase, particular with the best batsman in the competition, but as you say runs on the board.

Waratah 137 defeated by Southern Districts 263 & 1 for 127 - Marrara (1)
Darwin 210 tbc defeated by Nightcliff 339 & 0 for 30 tbc - Kahlin Oval
Tracy Village 8 for 330 defeated Palmerston 9 for 328 - Tracy Village Oval

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Looks like Nightcliff did what was expected.

Tracy did a super human effort and got the biscuits.. Chops in the runs again.

Crocs did what was expected and rolled a undermanned, disorganised Tahs.
Heard a rumour Piercy retired at end of game? Anyone Know the happeings there?

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Indeed Tracy's run chase was a brilliant effort. One of the most memorable wins I have been involved in. Especially considering the required run rate was over 5.5 for most of our innings after a slow but steady start. Chops was very unlucky to be caught down the leg side for 98 to a hanger of a catch by the keeper. At 6-210 off 70 Palmo would have thought it was game over....

Palmerston & Tracy Village have a habit of nail biting finishes, and have done for the last 4 years at least. Every game these 2 sides play comes down to the wire, including a one wicket semi final win by Village in the 2008 semi. Quality games to be involved in, made even better when you win!

Round 10 - Saturday 3rd & 10th July
Waratah v BYE
Darwin v Palmerston - Kahlin Oval
Tracy Village v PINT- Tracy Village Oval
Southern Districts v Nightcliff - Fred's Pass

Darwin's bowling stocks are at a low and will need a special batting effort to overcome Palmerston.

Tracy Village and PINT should be another tight match for Village with Lavers and Cachopa both in fine form.

Districts have their first home match since round 2 (round 7 was washed out) and should test the Tigers in both departments.

He has been injured. Broken wrist i think. This will be his first season or cricket for a while.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

Round 10 - Saturday 3rd & 10th July
Waratah v BYE
Darwin v Palmerston 317 - Kahlin Oval
Tracy Village 9-325 v PINT- Tracy Village Oval
Southern Districts 3-154 v Nightcliff 110 - Fred's Pass

Darwin let Palmerston off the hook but have plenty of overs to chase. Will be devastating for the Power if they lose two matches in row posting 300+.

All round contributions from TV's batsmen got them to strong total. Matt Day has also arrived for them. Will be an interesting chase next week from PINT.

Districts have already picked up first innings points and the match shouldn't change too much from there. The win for Districts has opened up the season for them and the ladder with the final four far from decided.

Round 10 - Saturday 3rd & 10th July
Waratah v BYE
Darwin 9 for 389 defeated Palmerston 317 & 3 for 125 - Kahlin Oval
Tracy Village 9-325 defeated PINT 286 - Tracy Village Oval
Southern Districts 268 defeated Nightcliff 110 & 5 for 233 - Fred's Pass

Tom Briggs 171 for Darwin, Simon Lavers 192 not out for PINT and Marc Calkin made a 102 not out in second dig for Nightcliff.

Cranmer and Brinsley maybe out for the season with injuries.

Re: Darwin & District Cricket - 2010

The cricket write ups in the NT news shit me seriously, they gave Calkin's second innings ton a massive write up/headline gave Briggs a slight mention and nothing for Lavers.
