Darwin & District Cricket - 2011

I assume Nightcliff would fall into the Darwin/Tah/TV allotment. My best guess would be Pearson and Gibson would be the only inclusions.

Rough idea of the squads maybe;

Darwin/Tah/TV/NCC
Briggs - DCC
Thiel - DCC
Reichstein - DCC
Ryan - DCC
Flynn - DCC
Gardiner - WCC
Lawrence - WCC
Green - WCC
Johnstone - TVCC
Cooper - TVCC
McDermott - TVCC
Knox - TVCC
Lycett - TVCC
Crowe - TVCC
Campbell - TVCC
Gibson - NCC
Pearson - NCC

PINT/Districts/Palmerston/Katherine
Lavers - PINTCC
Hodgson - PINTCC
Mitchell - PINTCC
Berry - PINTCC
Bayly - PINTCC
Brown - PINTCC
Robbins - PINTCC
Pemble - SDCC
Moon - SDCC
Bell - SDCC
Bock - SDCC
Devereux - SDCC
Hanna - PCC
Williams - PCC
Toner - PCC
Short - PCC
McCann - PCC
Chatto - PCC
Bleakley - PCC
Carbone - PCC
Hussey - Katherine

No idea what the Regional side would be besides Cornford. Not sure about other players as well like Cachopa, who apparently is going to captain the NT U19 team.

Round 11 - Saturday 16th & 30th July

PINT 300 & 2 for 85 defeated Nightcliff 216 at Marrara

NT News Write Up; http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2011/07/31/250675_ntsport.html

Fawcett to go with his 7 for, made 206, Doolan, Flynn and Burton with 50's to defeat Districts, who are still in the hunt if they win their last three. The Eagles still need to win their last two. Ayre and Connolly with 50's for the Tigers as they lost to PINT, can't write them off but with Palmerston and Tahs to come, the Tigers need to win both convincingly to get a finals berth. Tahs accounted for TV, Wells, Ovens and Lane (91) all posting half centuries, TV's season is also on the line, needing to win their last two games to slot into the four.

Tough weekend for the bowlers. Not much in it, all teams beside Palmerston on the tight rope coming into the last three rounds. Darwin, TV and Districts are all in a must win battle.

1. Palmerston - 65.35 - Waratah, Nightcliff & Southern Districts

Round 12 - Saturday 6th & 13th August
Tracy Village vs Darwin at Tracy Village
Palmerston vs Waratah at Woodroffe Oval
Southern Districts vs PINT at Freds Pass
Nightcliff - Bye

A big round coming up which will do a lot to do determine the final four. Darwin and TV clash in a must needed win for both sides. TV could still scrape into the four with a loss and win in their last two matches while Darwin could still be points short even with two wins. Palmerston can do everyone a favour by continuing to win which will leave the 2, 3 & 4 wide open for the rest of the competition. Waratah should get through with only a win out of their next three, the same is likely of PINT but Nightcliff season is over barring an outright win and Southern Districts are still a chance with three wins.

Solia and Cachopa both collected 50's for TV and Fawcett took 5 wickets. Game looks fairly even at this stage. Reid took 5 for while Wells hit 71 for Tahs. Voelkl made 54 to rescue Southern Districts, Hodgson picking up 4 wickets for PINT. All matches are evenly poised, with Tahs sitting the best out of the lot.

*Edit: Points to be confirmed

Massive win for Southern Districts keeps their finals hopes alive, while Darwin need PINT to lose against Tahs and then smash PINT in the final round. Palmerston and Waratah are in and TV are still on the edge but should be fine.

TJ Mullins took 8 for 26 and Voelkl scored a ton along with Ross and Bock hitting 50's in their demolition of PINT. No real standout performances from other teams. PINT's game was affected by a water issue where play was delayed for 45mins.

Most teams lose their CA players, Smith is out for TV, Fawcett & Hannan for Darwin, Waratah lose Reid and Wells, Salipetro has his last hit for the Tigers this week and Ayres has finished as well, Districts are expecting to hold on to Ross and Silk while Kemp and Doran last game is this week for Palmerston along with Adams likely to finish up after this game for PINT.

Round 13 - Saturday 20th & 27th August
Tracy Village 392 vs Southern Districts 0 for 16 at Tracy Village Oval
Waratah 8 for 294 vs PINT at Gardens Oval
Nightcliff 123 vs Palmerston 7 for 93 at Marrara
Darwin - Bye

Craig Cachopa knocked up a 100 with half centuries to McDermott and Cooper have put TV in the box seat against Districts. McCann and Toner led the way with 4 fors rolling the Tigers but aren't home yet with 30 required and only 3 wickets in the shed. Miller for the Tigers also picking up 4. A ton to Schmulian and 50's to Ovens and Darkins helped Tahs to 294 and a win here will cement their position at number two on the ladder.

Calder Shield matches are confirmed for the 2nd, 7th, 8th and 9th (Final) October.

Sunday 2nd October - Darwin Sharks vs Top End Buffalos
Friday 7th October - Darwin Sharks vs Alice Springs Eagles
Saturday 8th October - Top End Buffalos vs Alice Springs Eagles
Sunday 9th October - Final

Round 13 - Saturday 20th & 27th August

Waratah 8 for 294 vs PINT 212 at Gardens Oval
Nightcliff 123 & 71 vs Palmerston 250 at Marrara
Darwin - Bye

Tracy Village smashed Districts, Cachopa plundering another hundred in the second innings while Alex Ross was the best for the Crocs with 80. Tim Garner made 62 for PINT as Steven Reid picked up 5 for and cementing 2nd spot for Tahs. Luke Doran took 10 for the match against Nightcliff, (he actually took 5 in the first week not Toner) 5 for 7 in both innings with an 80 to boot.

Ladder - Points - Matches to come
1. Palmerston - 85.00 - Southern Districts
2. Waratah - 67.11 - Nightcliff
3. Tracy Village - 66.63 - Bye
4. PINT - 55.00 - Darwin
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Southern District - 46.80 - Palmerston
6. Darwin - 46.06 - PINT
7. Nightcliff - 37.00 - Waratah

*Points to be confirmed.

Either Southern Districts or Darwin can still technically make the four with a strong win their last. Districts would be relying on Darwin to win, both sides likely needing an outright for a chance. Tough equation but Marrara has been a minefield, so not out of the question.

Round 14 - Saturday 3rd & 10th September
PINT vs Darwin at Marrara
Southern Districts vs Palmerston at Fred's Pass
Nightcliff vs Waratah at Nightcliff Oval
Tracy Village - Bye

Final round of the season and the four is pretty much cemented. Only some outrageous results will see it change. PINT would want to beat Darwin and try to slip into 3rd spot, they'd back themselves to knock over a depleted Tahs. Southern Districts don't hold much hope against Palmerston but you never know, Palmerston's batting has rarely fired this season and its been up to the lower order to get them home. Waratah should take care of the Tigers who are in all sorts of trouble and need a win to prevent picking up the hero to zero tag.

Fawcett has sown up the PotY, while Salipetro would be just in front of McCann and Doran for the RW.

Write-up regarding Doran's performance last round; http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2011/09/01/257141_ntsport.html

Round 14 - Saturday 3rd & 10th September
PINT 9 for 422 defeated 265 Darwin at Marrara
Southern Districts 9 for 187 defeated by Palmerston 5 for 470 & 8 for 388 at Fred's Pass
Nightcliff 151 defeated by Waratah 431 at Nightcliff Oval
Tracy Village - Bye

Tim Garner made 155 for PINT, while Jake Fawcett capped off a great season with an undefeated 105 (and no average against PINT in three games) for Darwin. Bock top scored with 89 for Districts as Palmerston feasted on their bowling, a ton for Paul Carbone in the first innings and then 147 for Colson in the second. Schmulian made back to back tons with 100 against the Tigers, with Lawrence picking up fives wickets for the Red Caps.

Semi-Final - Saturday 17th & 18th September
Palmerston vs PINT at Woodroffe Oval
Waratah vs Tracy Village at Marrara

All fairly even matches for semi-finals. Most teams are set, Palmerston lose Doran if they make it through to the finals. Believe Palmerston won the Club Championship.

Batting
Runs and Average - Jake Fawcett - 714@102

Bowling
Most Wickets - Todd McCann & Luke Doran - 29
Average - Luke Doran 29@11.03

Player of the Year
Jake Fawcett

Interesting no TV sides in any GF's.Well done to the NCC under 15's and 17's on making the GF's...Junior program put in place 6 years back is starting to pay off and hope to see these kids in Senior side more often soon.

"Interesting no TV sides in any GF's.Well done to the NCC under 15's and 17's on making the GF's...Junior program put in place 6 years back is starting to pay off and hope to see these kids in Senior side more often soon."

Regarding TV:
A's beaten by 'Tahs in the Semi
B's wooden spooners
C's Minor premiers beaten by Palmy in the Semi
D's Beaten in first round of finals (3v6, 4v5, winner of 3v6 played 1st and 4v5 played 2nd the following week)
E's beaten in Semi by Darwin.

Regarding NCC juinors: They already have a couple playing seniors, I think theres a couple in the B-grade Final, James Dix is one, there may be others, I havent umpired them for a couple of weeks.
(I have been a regular B-Grade umpire all season.)

Apologies for the lack of updates.

Palmerston rightfully won the GF, Udara taking 8 for 45 to roll Tahs after amassing 373 with the bat, Ash Williams top scoring with 90 odd.

Calder Shield kicked off yesterday, Top End Buffalos beating Darwin Sharks by a 103 runs, Nick Berry with an undefeated ton and Todd McCann took 3 for.

http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2011/10/03/264231_ntsport.html

Next match is Friday, Sharks taking on Alice Springs.

Darwin Sharks defeated Alice Springs Eagles in the second match. Gardiner and Kitchner both with 50's for the Sharks, while Allen made 50.

NT News write-up; http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2011/10/08/265261_ntsport.html

Today, Top End Buffalo's made 349 in their 50 overs, Berry with a ton, Alice put up a decent chase, falling short by 7 runs, Allen with 110.

Darwin Sharks play Top End Buffalos tomorrow from 10:00am at Marrara.

Fair amount of chat happening on the NT News articles, would be good to see some of it in here, instead of over three different articles.
