Well, let us all hope that this programmed 2-Day round does eventuate without any interruptions from the gods of weather. I'm sure that all will appreciate two full days out on the paddock with the opportunity to get a good period of putting the willow to the leather - or having the leather hitting the uprights.

And the round does throw up a couple of interesting matches. Top of the list in First Grade is the Banyule vs. Rosanna clash with the home side keen to inflict the first loss on the visitors. Interestingly, both these teams seconds are struggling to win a game - well they have each won one. North Brunswick Rosebank will be looking to bounce back after last rounds horror loss when they travel to Heidelberg West. In the Second Grade, North Heidelberg host Edinburgh in the standout game, with the Doggies likely to win comfortably. East Ivanhoe Saints will be looking to keep pace with North Heidelberg by conquering Heidelberg.

Heidelberg District CA. First Grade. Round 8. 2-Dayer. Dec11th & Dec18th. Selections Bolded.
Edinburgh (2-2-3) vs. West Ivanhoe (0-1-6)
Banyule )4-1-2) vs. Rosanna (6-1-0)
Heidelberg (5-1-1) vs. Viewbank (0-2-5)
Heidelberg West (2-1-4)vs. North Brunswick Rosebank (4-1-2)

Heidelberg District CA. Second Grade. Round 8. 2-Dayer. Dec11th & Dec18th. Selections Bolded.

East Ivanhoe Saints (5-1-1) vs. Heidelberg (2-1-4)
North Heidelberg (6-1-0) vs. Edinburgh (3-1-3)

Pray for fine weather fellas !

Any truth in the rumour that there were punches being thrown around in the game between North Brunswick/Rosebank and the Doggies?????

Ah well, here are my thoughts for this Saturday's round of games:

Well, it's back to the hit and giggle of a 1-Day game this round, with the weather looking like it is going to be very, very pleasant - if you like the heat ! And with the expected heat, most players are probably thankful that only the shortened version will be played.

Heidelberg (6-1-3) vs Heidelberg West (3-1-6)

Still three rounds to go, with the final One-Day this round to prelude the final Two-Day matches leading into the finals. The First Grade finalists are all decided , however the ladder positions can, and will, change before they commence. Agree with you kennel about rosanna to strong for heidelberg
Rosebank will have more depth and on a decent wicket, banyule will find it hard.
2nd grade
I think East Ivanhoe will just get over the line.
In the upset of the year Edinburgh will defeat Nth Heidelberg in a thriller.

Rosanna have dominated the First Grade all season and should beat Heidelberg, while reigning premiers North Brunswick Rosebank should beat Banyule and get back to the big dance. Similarly, in Second Grade North Heidelberg have absolutely dominated the grade and will have no mercy on Edinburgh. The other game will be a lot more closer with East Ivanhoe Saints to advance against North Brunswick Rosebank.

Amazing game at Shelley today with Edinburgh bowling North Heidelberg out for 97 having made 100 themselves on Saturday. Just as the Edinburgh opening batsmen were about to take the field again, NH player Kevin Elms allegedly kinghit the 17 year Edinburgh opening bowler. The umpires immediately called the game off, with the Edinburgh obviously the winner.

Full credit to the response of all the NH players immediately afterward who were obviously horrified by Elms' alleged actions. Unsurprisingly, Elms made himself scarce and was last heard of asking a teammate (over the phone) which police station he would be required to turn himself into.

After two seasons of never really being headed, sadly this kind of reaction won't be of great surprise to a lot of the doubters out there. One would think that is likely to be curtains for North Heidelberg in the HDCA.

was down at shelley park watching yesterday ,well done to the edinburgh boy's on a great win .. a good game of cricket i thought the doggies may have tried to reverse it but after a ugly scene the north heidelberg boy's called the game off ...not to sure what happened but i do know the man there saying hit him is not usually trouble ,well hope all works out for both party's and good luck to edinburgh next week

well said kennel. would be very surprised if hdca take action against the club over the unfortunate actions of one individual. howzat has nostradamus abilities.

Are you kidding? Would be absolutely amazed and disappointed if some sort of action wasn't taken against the club. I don't think they should be turfed out, but a substantial fine and probation at the very least would seem appropriate.

would not be surprised if Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria play a part in this. The player should be banned for life from all grades of cricket in Australia. There should be no tolerance for violence especially on the cricket field where the game is meant to be played for the love and fun of it.

Well done to North Heidelberg for calling the game off when they would have been a decent chance in reversing the the outcome of the 1st innings.

To allegedly kinghit someone, let alone a 17 year old player is not on and I would think that more will come from this.

not kidding. The fact that Nth Heid called off the game immediately sent a strong message that the player's actions would not be tolerated by the club. From what i've heard every other nth heid player was shocked by the incident. penalise the player but not the club given the clubs quick response. agree with dougie's thoughts.

As my name suggests the dogs will be gawn from the HDCA surely.
If not I hear the drums are beating at BSO and Chelsworth Main if they stay.
