ICC Champions Trophy 2009

This one is creeping up on us (even though I think many of us are being lulled into a deep sleep by the current Eng/Aus snore fest).

Anyway, it's the usual format, two groups of four with the top two in each going through to a semi final. A quick, short sharp blast of international cricket, all done and dusted in abut a fortnight.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Atleast England might finally see an ODI victory when we meet the Kiwis :D

Although playing South Africa in their last group match could be handy, they love a good choke :D

Yip , we choke on most things. I am quite undecided by the tournament. The conditions I think will make the toss critical. Do not be surprised if the seamers get a lot of work and the spinners carry the drinks. The South African cricket season normally starts first week of November.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2009

I hate FOX SPORTS

The only game not shown for the entire tournament is the one I am most interested in, England v South Africa, every other game is show LIVE with one or 2 on a slight delay but in full, but thats not going to happen with England v South Africa, highlights package only early the next morning or an even briefer highlights the next night

ICC Champions Trophy - Group B

This is the Group B thread where match talk, news and results will be posted. The first game of the tournament has just started with South Africa hosting Sri Lanka.

South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first. They've just struck, removing Sanath Jayasuriya for 10.

1/21 from three overs with the wicket going to Dale Steyn.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy - Group B

Sri Lanka are smashing everything, lead by an in-form Dilshan. They're 1/015 from 15 overs, Dilshan's up to 63 not out from 47 balls and already has 12 fours and a six. Kumar Sangakkara has been more relaxed and has grafted his way to 26 so far.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy - Group B

A ton for Dilshan and Sri Lanka have to fancy 350 from here. 218 off 38 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

Apparently, the altitude that the games are played at helps the ball to travel further in the air. Combine with with smaller boundaries and we should see some big scores.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Dilshan is showing we he is vital to Sri Lanka cricket. The altitude does have an impact but the grounds are in preseason state so expect national roads and very little assistance for the bowlers.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2009

Looks an interesting game at the moment. South Africa are going for it and look very well placed after 13/14 overs.

Re: ICC Champions Trophy 2009

It seems that the first time teams play against Mendis, they have trouble working him out but after the initial meeting, it gets easier.
