IPL Game 8 - Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
Game 8 of the IPL sees the Chennai Super Kings take on the Mumbai Indians at the Kings home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Chennai scored a massive 240 runs in their first game, Michael Hussey went ballistic with a huge innings of 116 not out from only 54 balls. He was well supported with cameos from Raina and Badrinath who added to the damage in the huge score against the Kings XI Punjab. Their bowling though was average but still good enough to secure a comfortable victory, star bowler Muttiah Muralitharan was amongst the wickets and kept the runs to a manageable level.
Mumbai fared differently though, losing to the Bangalore Royal Challengers. Robin Uthappa fared well with the bat scoring a brisk 48, Shaun Pollock and Sanath Jayasuriya also chipped in with 29 and 28 respectively. As well as losing, Mumbai suffered the loss of Australian domestic all-rounder Dominic Thornely, who has was hit in the eye whilst batting. He required 15 stitches in his eye after copping a nasty blow from Zaheer Khan.
Their score wasn't enough though and despite two wickets from Harbhajan Singh (filling in as captain for the still injured Sachin Tendulkar, who won't be playing in this game either) and some economical bowling from Shaun Pollock, the Royal Challengers passed their score with only two balls remaining.
Another similar game to last night, one team hoping to get back on an even keel while the other is hoping to set the early pace along with the other undefeated sides. Expect a good match here with both batting line-ups to play a key part.
Mumbai XI (probable): 1 Sanath Jayasuriya, 2 +Luke Ronchi, 3 Robin Uthappa, 4 Dwayne Bravo, 5 Saurabh Tiwary, 6 Abhishek Nayar, 7 Shaun Pollock, 8 *Harbhajan Singh, 9 Musavir Khote, 10 Ashish Nehra, 11 Dhaval Kulkarni
