South Africa In Australia

Series all rests on Perth then. Australia have brought Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson, Joh Hastings and Shane Watson into the line-up with Rob Quiney dropped and James Pattinson out injured. South Africa have injury problems on their own, Philander's fitness is unknown while I can't see Kallis playing. If Kallis is out, Ryan McLaren could come in for his first game of the series.

The winner of the next Test might come down to the replacements as someone like Faf Du Plessis showed in Adelaide. Watson needs some runs, straight away as Australia can't rely on Michael Clarke to keep getting doubles.

I wonder with it being cool and wet today and tomorrow whether it will effect the wicket, strange weather for this time of year.

So Siddle and Hilfenhaus haven't pulled up.

Looks like it's either Lyon or Hastings with the other 3 seamers, if Lyon doesn't play then it will be a complete line change from the last Test, that can't have happened too often..

There's been some light rain but should be cleared by the start of play, unseasonably cold though. Wont be easy batting especially early on.

Lovely fielding form Warner to run out Amla, oh and Hastings now get AB with an outswinger, Smith will be rueing the decision to bat with them 5 for 67, 4 wicket falling for only 6 runs..

Fair effort from Du Plessis to get South Africa out of the poo this afternoon, hardly looked like getting out after that earlier collapse.

Can't believe that they tried to refer that Ponting LBW, plumb. Up to Wade and Hussey to get AUS out of trouble, guess a consolation is that the tail is very long with Hastings and Johnson still in the shed.

Australia were bowled out for 169 after South Africa were bowled out for 225 batting first. South Africa have just been dismissed for a mammoth 569 with Amla hitting 196 and de Villiers 169. Smith also chipped in with 84 opening the innings.

Mitchell Starc was Australia's best bowler figures wise with 6/154, his first five-wicket haul in tests and Mitchell Johnson completed a solid comeback with 4/110, he was probably Australia's best bowler in that innings.

So Australia need a world record 632 for victory with two days and 14 overs remaining today. This will be a huge effort if they get there and South Africa will need to work on a pitch which has flattened out considerably. The weather for the next two days is going to get warmer (33 for Monday and 37 on Tuesday) and there are may be showers and thunderstorms after midday on day five.

A couple of records in that innings too. Only the third time since 1909 that all 10 wickets have been taken by left-arm bowlers and it's also the third time that all ten wickets have fallen to a bowler with the same first name. Of course the first two were by Jim Laker and Anil Kumble who took 10 wickets in an innings each so this is the first time that all ten have been taken by two bowlers with the same first name.

Starc showing the Australian top order how it is done.

edit - lol at the Lyon edge fling straight between the slips.

No one would ever have picked the name "Mitchell".
