Wins overnite in Sri Lanka by our T20 and A sides.

Kane Richardson showed he is far from a T20 spent force with a four wicket haul. In fact it was the Richardson show with Jhye snaring three poles too. Mathew Wade top scored for the Aussies in an overall moderate batting display.

Cameron Green once again showed his white ball credentials driving home the A boys with a brilliant ton while the comeback king Matt Renshaw made a claim for promotion to our ODI side with his vital middle order batting.

The first unofficial Test starts today. Wolves to the slaughter with the omissions of Boland, Inglis, Green and Richardson. Four lefties in the top 5.. great selection CA. Is Renshaw ready to return to opener. Prefer he remained in middle order.

West Aussie pair Josh Philippe (94) and Aaron Hardie (62) have stamped their claim on a Baggy Green cap after rescuing Australia A yesterday. Phillipe arrived at the crease at a precarious 4-49 and together with Hardie set about a 125 run counter attack. The Sri Lankan bowlers had no answers and after they were dismissed, inspired tailenders Nathan McAndrew (92) and Mark Steketee (47) to continue the run rampage, taking the Aussies to a strong 379 at stumps.

Rookie leggie Tanveer Sangha has announced himself internationally with a match winning 4for late on the last day to deny the locals a win.
Josh Philippe and Aaron Hardie have certainly put themselves in the picture for a Baggy Green should an opening appear this tour. I was specially impressed by Philippe's quality handling of the Lankan spinners. Matt Kuhnemann has already had and taken his chance due to injury and may play in the First Test on the 29th should Ashton Agar not return. A double pair for Hunt has not been the best start for him but he remains a Test opener in waiting.. all the same. Has the second four dayer to turn it round. The big surprise for me was the dual performances of rank outsider Nathan McAndew. This guy was unable to make Seconds last year for the Blues.
For some unknown reason this match was not live streamed as the white ball matches were. Very annoying

Aussies are still in the second four dayer with a day to play with our pace attack taking most of the wickets. Tanveer Sangha produced a match winning spell on the last day of the first four dayer yet he has bowled a mere 3 overs in the Lankan second innings. Appears Harris the surprise skipper over Hunt is playing favorites handing his Vic team mate John Holland triple the overs of Sangha.

Philippe has to come into consideration for the upcoming Tests after the way he dismantled the opposition spin attack in the last game plus the poor spin play of the current Test batsmen.. other than Steve Smith. With Travis head in doubt for first Test, is a perfect time to hand Philippe his first baggy green cap.

It is easy to see that Sri Lanka rates white ball over red ball as there has been no live coverage of these two four day games while CA's paltry offering of replay footage is pathetic.

The 'A' boys pulled off an unlikely but thrilling win on the final day after being set a 360 target by the Lankans. Paving the way with a gutsy 160 partnership after the team had slumped to 4-69 were sole series centurians Henry Hunt and late bloomer keeper/batsman Jimmy Peirson, with the fast improving Aaron Hardie icing the cake.

The second stringers have been the heroes for the Aussies on this tour outshining the top boys to date.. with only the two Tests remaining.
A quartet of our contingent, Josh Philippe, Henry Hunt, Aaron Hardie and Jimmy Peirson have put the Test and ODI boys on notice with their performances.
Philippe: 181 @45 (rb)
Hunt: 135 @34. (rb) Was the first player to ton up from both sides. 76 @38 (wb)
Hardie: 168 @84- 4 @ 28. (rb) - 58 (wb)
Peirson: 208 undefeated runs. (rb)
Other major contributors were Steketee.. with 9 w -60 runs.(rb), McAndrew 92 r -4 w. (rb)

I think I watched like a total of 10 minutes of the 2 series v Sri Lanka, hard to get into shorter forms at the best of times let alone in the middle of winter with footy on.

Just as well I'm here to give you a running commentary then ;) .

Now this is more interesting, will definitely try to watch some of it.

Wow they finally went back to Maxwell. The controversial figure M.Marsh as well.

Maxie has form in this part of the world.. specially against spin. Scored a century in India back in 2018.. think it was. Mitch Marsh's continued Test selection is baffling.

Are we all ready for a spin fest. Lankans picking three spinners while we will have only the two specialists in Lyon and Swepson, the latter on the skipper's urgings I am thinking. Been better sense to pick a like for like to the injured Ashton Agar.. say Holland or Kuhnemann imo. Feeling for Agar as he'd have made his Test return today..

Australia lose toss in Galle and are bowling. Let the slaughter begin if we play spin like we did last time we toured there.

Sri Lanka 2-68 at lunch. Was generous of them to gift us the two wickets with poor strokeplay.

Agreed. I'll be watching the Test tonight when I come home from work.

egghead? Lyon I presume.

Swepson struck twice in two balls.. just missed the hat trick. I liked his use of drift and loop and sharp turn.. ala Warnie.

We are taking wickets but unable to maintain consistent pressure.
