Re: Subbies season 09/10

Also worth mentioning is Rob Bartlett's 159 against Balwyn on the weekend.
He has scores of 82, 60, 78, 38, 45, 66, 50, 84, 17, 75, 32 and 159 for a total of 786 runs at 65.50. You would think that he would have to be right up their in voting for the Hatch Medal.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Would think Oakleigh wouldn't hold too many fears of anyone, even precious Melton. Williamstown couldn't even beat the bottom team on their own ground with a finals spot on the line. All the talk of the South/West (especially the West) and all the excitement is in the North/East. 6 or 7 teams still a chance to make it. And you can forget about anyone other than Pinwill or Bartlett winning the Hatch medal. 2 horse race.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

I reckon that it is more than a two-horse for the Hatch Medal.

Bartlett would be more of a favourite to win than Pinwill, as there are fewer people to take votes off him.

No body looks like getting close to Oakleigh in the North/East section.
The West is a little tighter with Caulfield, Melton and Altona all looking capable.
Hatch medal: 1. Bartlett 2. Pinwell 3. Lewis

Biggest flop of the year goes to Sean Flynn. He was a massive recruit to captain/coach Bayswater and only managed 108 runs at an average of 9. He did take 16 wickets but compared to Love from Yarraville who scored 600+ and Maynard who scored 300 and took 14 wickets he was disappointing.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Looking forward to semis this weekend, lovely weather should make for great games.
Caulfield v Malvern-mouth watering local derby,as usual the toss will be vital, runs on the board always prevail, tipping Malvern in an upset.
Melton v Altona-have fancied Altonas chances all year, but they again run into their nemisis from last year, also at Maccy Park.
Both sides boast very deep batting line ups, perhaps if Boglis can perform some magic he could make the difference, will go for Altona in another upset.
The two faves in N/E look the winners,as you say YWL,Oakleigh look like dominating again.
As for Hatch predictions,Agree should be Bartlett's year,Pinwill with 44 wickets I think must be a chance although specialist bowlers don't seem to win too often.
Other hopes could be Paul Thomas,Nick Gill,Love and perhaps Pritchard from Caulfield.
Will try and select a team of the year closer to Medal night, good luck to all finalists

I'm going to go with Caulfield and Melton, have been the best sides all year. Caulfield haven't been in great form of late but I expect their big names like Richardson, Pritchard and Lawrence to lift this weekend. Lawrence however retired hurt last week does anyone know if he is playing or not? If not that is a massive loss for Caulfield.

Melton to get up pretty comfortably I'd say. Their batting with Allen, Kirk, Sawas and Gale most likely will be enough to get them over the line. Altona lack another good solid bowler in my opinion and could be caught out. Jones is also looking very ominious will the pill. If Altona are to get up they would either need an exceptional performance from either Maynard with the stick or Boglis with the ball.

2nd's will not be a walk in the park. Brighton looking for 3rd time lucky. Walker could be the difference. o"Reilly leading the averages. Should be much to strong at the Beach with 1st's not playing.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

well well well weapons ur mobs 4ths couldnt make 125 after being 2 for 72 i guess 3 premierships might have to be enough for the lions

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Tipping honours shared on the weekend, lets have a few more predictions for both grannys.
Meltons home ground advantage should give them the edge over Malvern, however with Perera back to his best and Chard in all round form I'm gonna stick with the silvertails in an upset.
Oakleigh v Coburg-the purple n golds would be the shortest price favourites for years with good reason, unless Coburg can win the toss and get 200 plus you wouldnt give them much hope.
So it's Malvern v Oakleigh in the Championship final for me.
Let's hear from everyone else.

Yes very interesting semi final round.
Can't see Melton being beaten, there top 5 is just too strong and very rarely make under 200. Jones to get a few as well and Malvern won't get close.
There is only 1 man standing inbetween Oakleigh and another flag and that's Mick Lewis. Lewis will have to pull something out of the bag if Coburg are going to be any show. With Street and Travaglia and Pinwell all firing Oakleigh easily.
