Subbies Thread

SW looked very competitive. But after 3 rounds think Sunshine,Melton, Williamstown, Hoppers, Brighton, Elsternwick and Moorrabin will not play finals. Down to 7 teams.

Obviously Williamstown having 3 points after 3 games doesn't look great but we have played Oakleigh and Werribee, not saying we will definitely make finals but it is very early to make that call.

anyone know the chances of the CV revamp of subbies cricket? not much news recently, to me it feels as if they will be dropping a bombshell in coming weeks

Suspect without any knowledge that 3s & 4s will be off, and 1s & 2s report to grounds. Depends on weather conditions for the rest of the day, and tomorrow morning however.

How many clubs with covers on prior to the rain yesterday? Chances of play this week?
I would expect all play will be called off today. Cup Day and RDO's on the Monday will have left only Wednesday for wicket preparation before yesterday's rain and today's drizzle this morning. Can't see a roller getting on any squares that weren't covered. Rain card can be played.

All Subbies has been cancelled for both Saturday and Sunday.
Hearing that Carnegie CC are playing a game of Turf Cricket today in the MCA can anyone confirm this and will doing the same tomorrrow are they only club in the state that are playing maybe more clubs need to be like them

No they are not the only club to be playing in the state today - Premier Cricket was on, so 18 clubs there played. Also the ECA (Turf) played, quite a few clubs there played also. Additionally the Geelong League played today as well.

Congrats to Carnegie on playing in the MCA but it is a very different type of comp and definetly not for everyone.

Just had a look at the sides (fantastic that they are now on MyCricket) and there are a few guest players:

Malvern- Michael Beer (St Kilda)

Brighton- Hamish Winter-Irving (Footscray)

Kew- Matthew Brown (Melbourne)

Melton- Antony Keely (Melbourne Uni)

Reckon Best of South would have other groups covered this year.

Schittler
Damiano [wk]
Harrison
Clements
Wild
Allen.M
Jones [c]
White
Rushworth
Evans
Fernando
3 pronged county attack. Premier standard bats all in form and 2 class spinners.

Strong team but the other 3 groups would field strong teams too. It's a healthy comp

Great side, good to see they're mixed amongst the clubs too. Not doubting his class, but Allen's 25 runs @ 6, looks like the odd one out at the moment.
