The Lounge 2

Has anyone made plans for Christmas yet?
I'll head to my family in Cornwall providing we don't have snow or ice on our roads.
I've already seen Christmas cards in a shop here, and winter Woolies, gloves, hats and scarfs 🧑‍🎄
Same here sort of. It's all about what to do with my 91 yo MIL. She'd been with us last year. We'd put her up in a nearby guesthouse for a week which was within walking distance. Now she told us it was too boring just being a guest with nothing being allowed to do. So all of us, five people and a dog, will be seeing her at her home for one day probably for the last time there because we hope she'll be in her new home at our place next Christmas.
I haven't seen gingerbread and stuff in the shops yet but expect it to be on offer in two or three weeks' time. You might know better when that will be, Jessica? :)🤗

I had a bit of a shock yesterday when I cut my wrist trimming a hedge. Fair loss of blood and a huge lump/ haematoma. Doc said I may have damaged my flexor tendon and will need surgery. Luckily this morning when I went for an ultrasound to determine tendon damage a specialist hand/arm doctor downgraded the wound to superficial. Did not even need a suture (stitch). Pffew

I've seen tins of Roses, Quality Street, also seen selection boxes and advent calendars, it's way too early for this 😨
Our local bakery always sells gingerbread as in gingerbread men, I love them 😋

Good gracious! I'm glad it's no deeper cut. How did it happen? Don't you operate the hedge trimmer with two hands? Speedy recovery, mate. 🤞
A small electric one Thomas. A one hander. The blade snagged on a vine and flew out of my hand. I was either lucky or unlucky, as it may not have even hit any party of my anatomy

I bought myself a little chainsaw, a garden pruner or wood cutter from Stihl, actually a one-hander, too. 😬 I haven't used it yet and know that I should handle it very carefully.😨

My gosh Richie you've had a very lucky escape.
Invest in some safety gear when you trim the hedge again. Tendons are a nightmare to heal so glad you're ok 😊

Yeh a garden pruner. Use extreme care.. specially on tangly vines mate. The funny thing is the vines were planted by my neibor and I was cutting them because the wife does not like the smell of the flowers that bloom on them. Whereas I do. Anything for a quiet life.

What a charmer Vlad Putin is. Ignoring the funeral of a wonderful man of peace that Gorby was. Just compare athe two who were both communists and hi ranking members of the former Soviet Union. Gorby saw that it would be better to come out from behind the Iron Curtain than remain a pariah while Putin was and remains a meglomaniacal tyrant and only wants, at any cost, a return to the former Russian Empire that he and his cronies believe Gorby ruined..

Yes, he did but still he paid tribute to Gorby one day earlier at the open coffin which I wouldn't have thought he'd do. Gorby
will be my hero forever and will always be held in high esteem by me and millions of people in east Germany and eastern Europe because he made reunification possible and brought freedom to us.
R.I.P.

If he had not the Russian people would have hated him even deeper. Putin did tho, rule out Gorby being sent off with a State Funeral. This great man of peace has already been buried yet that other even worse than Putin meglomaniacal, mass murdering tyrant Starlin lies in state in a glass coffin for all communists to see decades after his death.

Yes, but that's politics. Look at Estonia where PM Kaja Kallas, reacting to Putin's war, had all public monuments reminiscent of the Soviet victory in WWII finally dismantled and sent to the museum. Public mood made it possible now that history is reinterpreted.

I woke to the shocking news that a great woman and monarch has left us with the death of Britain's QE11 overnite. Jessica to you, all your countrymen and monarchists the world over I offer my condolences and those of the Australian people. I hope she went peacefully in her sleep.
RIP dear lady.

We heard it last night. Our major TV stations cancelled the usual programme and showed specials all evening. All commentators wore black.
Very sad, indeed. Our whole generation, no matter where they live, have not known another British monarch. Yes, it was said in the very first announcement that she had passed peacefully. And a rainbow was to be seen. RIP. 😢

Rest in peace ma'am.

I'm not a royalist but she was a lovely woman with a stunning smile. The mood here is very sombre, and just after the announcement was made there was an eerie silence.

I remember once when I was driving in London, the Queen and her entourage drove past me on the opposite side of the road, she was with Prince Philip, something I'll never forget.
All our news channels are devoted to the Queen, and our planned rail strike has been cancelled out of respect for her.
I've often thought that if the Queen and Prince Philip were the only 2 royals then I'd take an interest, what I don't like is the amount of royals we have now, swanning around and living life to the max on our taxes, and certain ones have brought nothing but shame on our country.
I hope now that we have a new king, he scales down the royal family and sends the traitor back to US.

Prince Charlie is now King Charles.. Britain's oldest monarch at start of his reign. Australia has held off becoming a Republic for 20 years out of respect for Liz.. perhaps now a referendum will be held this time asking us citizens to vote for the President.. not bloody politicians.
