The Serious Discussion Thread.

Thomas has been away for a while. Miss you old Kraut.
I know mate, I know that you haven't seen much of me lately causing me a couple of sleepless nights and pricks of bad conscience since I also know how much the dynamics of this place depend on regular contributions by all those on board. I even shy away from giving any figures.

Has anyone been watching Roland Garros? Today another Kraut might have a chance of winning his first grand slam being aged 29. Enjoy the Sunday and your roast.

Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) arm has upgraded Israel’s counter intelligence threat level from “high” to “critical”, the most serious designation in its internal assessment system.

The warning was based on Israeli intelligence agencies intensifying efforts to collect information on US military personnel, government officials and policy discussions.

Tensions between Trump and Netanyahu have come to the surface in the past week, amid reports the US president called the Israeli prime minister “f****ing crazy”, due to Israel’s escalation in Lebanon. At least 3,500 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

Nice to see you back Thomas.
That was a great win for German Zverev.

It's big time karma for stupid DTrump. Netanyahu dragged him into the War no one wanted but Israel, a Beligerent and Pariah state happy to sow Geoncide and War which only perpetuates the intergenerational Hatreds, so bloody obvious to all, despite Israel's weasel words and lies. Lies from a declared Fascist styled War Criminal, by the UN which Israel ignores. Their words, like Trump's, are worthless.

So many innocents murdered.

You are back anyway and have not broken our unique partnership. Jessica has already gone did not want to lose you too.
Kind of funny that the two of you are making me feel as if I'd really been away. I've never been, just posting less but always keeping in touch. In larger forums no-one would have noticed, I'm sure. Having said that, my life, my duties and general circumstances, to be precise, have changed. What I've been preoccupied with, for example, is a forthcoming inguinal hernia operation, possibly within this month. The first one ever. My family keeps me busy too.
My daughter and her partner are about to buy a condo each but their apartments are adjacent on the same floor which is a big opportunity but entails a lot of paperwork. I meet up with my twin brother once a week which is also time-consuming as is my table tennis training twice a week. My MIL expects me to look after her needs such as completing her tax return which I handed in last week. Honestly, I don't know when I should read the books I get as presents and which are quite bulky . One of the most recent ones being this one with over 700 pages.

When did you last read a thick book like this?

Terry I'll comment on Zverev's achievement soon. Another five hours spent not posting.😊

You have a busier life than me Thomas. Just dont leave your popping on here for more than a week. Pleased you and your brother are seeing more of each other these days mate. Oh yeh and congrats to Zverev. Not a German name?

I have had two hernia ops in my lifetime, inc. a double hernia. My last was day surgery, is yours?

What a pity Trump did not say same to the Zionist war criminal when his forces were annihilating Palestinians in Gaza, instead of almost encouraging it. Both are tarred with the same brush, deluded and power hungry.

Pauline Hanson came to one of my busy Perth areas a few days ago called Midland, I know well. A Blue Collar area on the rise as a central hub of commerce. Lots of supporters and protestors. Lots of noise making the News!

Like Jackie Lamby you get what you see with Pauline, I appreciate that even though I don't agree with many of her hard right positions. That's fine in a Democracy with a dynamic spectrum of leanings.

She's a straight shooter unlike most Politicians and Pauline's lucky to have Barnaby Joyce by her side. He's got much experience in the hallowed halls of Governance, Deputy PM, Acting PM and a true blue Ocker to a fault.
One Nation might well be the next opposition making Angus Taylor even angrier and even more irrelevant.

Oh you've had even two of them and didn't say a word? It really affects every third man, I read. And where there's one, there's often a second coming up sooner or later...
My GP did an ultrasonic and assumes that it is a hernia but has referred me to a specialist surgeon whom I'll be seeing next Thursday. If he confirms the diagnosis, he'll either offer to do it himself as day surgery or send me to a clinic where I'd have to stay over night to be monitored. I guess it'll be a minimally invasive operation where they insert a mesh to reinforce and fill the gap. Have they done so in your case?
Craig, I was going to ask you the other day how your brother's been doing?

Correct. Aleksander Zverev is a Hamburg-born German but his family is of Russian origin. At home they still speak Russian and Zverev's girlfriend is struggling to learn the language. From a purely athletic perspective he's deserved the title which was long due. And also as a diabetic it was a tremendous feat.
I watched the whole 4.5 hour match and enjoyed it in two respects: It's been the second time that I could stream it live and free of charge. What a blessing. Plus I liked his fighting spirit and the way he played in order to win his first Grand Slam after 40 attempts. Yes, he was benefitting from the absence of two major contenders but who wouldn't have and which of the big players has never done so? Nonetheless , Cobolli gave him a hard time and any finalist shouldn't be underestimated since they are there for a reason.

The public is divided as usual but the majority supports him. His victory has sparked a debate over here on whether he now belongs to the greatest national athletes which shows that there're no generally accepted criteria for what makes an athlete great. Double standards wherever you go.

I'm so glad he delivered yet I also know that Wimbledon is probably taking place too soon for him. But as he said, the Paris title will always be his no matter what happens in the future.

Australia's great hope for grand slams, Alex de Minaur has the talent but seems to lack the killer instinct to defeat the top five, while I am emboldened by our crop of emerging female players.

I pass through Midland a lot on the way home to the wheatbelt, still a pretty dodgy area imo.
