Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Being a big fan of Michael Clarke, I'm pleased to see him getting a shot to captain Australia. Of course, Vettori is my favorite Kiwi cricketer, and I'm glad to see him captaining too, and since it's just a Twenty20, I'm not going to be too upset if Australia doesn't win this.

New Zealand 1 Brendon McCullum (wk), 2 Lou Vincent, 3 Ross Taylor, 4 Scott Styris, 5 Jamie How, 6 Mathew Sinclair, 7 Jacob Oram, 8 Daniel Vettori (capt), 9 Kyle Mills, 10 Mark Gillespie, 11 Jeetan Patel

Australia 1 Adam Gilchrist (wk), 2 Michael Clarke (capt), 3 Adam Voges, 4 Michael Hussey, 5 Andrew Symonds, 6 Luke Pomersbach, 7 Brett Lee, 8 Ashley Noffke, 9 Nathan Bracken, 10 Mitchell Johnson, 11 Shaun Tait

Pomersbach is apparently a late replacement for an injured Hodge.

Clarke won the toss and Australia will bat first.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Gillespie gets Gilchrist thanks to a great catch from Patel, and it's a wicket maiden!
Australia 10-1 after 3 overs.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Now Clarke and Hussey are adding the runs.
Australia 41-1 after 5.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Hussey stumped for 22,
Australia 55-2 after 7 overs.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Lucky call-up Pomersbach hit a six in his 15 of 7 balls, Voges went alright with 26 of 20 but Symmonds was the star of the innings with a sensational 85 of 46 not out.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Australia reached 186-6.

In reply, New Zealand is getting crushed.
They're 49-6 after 10 overs.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Noffke joins in on the act too, taking 2 wickets and leaving New Zealand with no hope whatsoever at 76-8 after 14 overs.

Noffke, Lee, Tait, and Johnson have each taken 2 wickets.

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

The Black Caps fall well short - all out for 132 of 18.3, big Jacob Oram was the only resistance, blasting an impressive 66 of 31 balls undefeated.

No way, Pomersbach played and Voges!!! Wow, that is sensational. These two will play for Australia in the future, no question about it. And even better, Pomersbach replaced that hack Hodge!! Hahahahaha!!!! :D

Wonderful effort by Australia, shame I missed the game because of work. Great innings by Symonds with Clarke batting well in his captaincy debut. Ashley Noffke also bowled pretty well, would get a game for almost any other country.

Great stuff by the Aussies, really looking forward to the one-dayers in a couple of days.

The Cricket Gods ensured the fate of Brad Hodge, 'the clothesline' hanging his bat to dry:D

Re: Twenty20 International: Australia v New Zealand at Perth

Did anyone else catch what Andrew Symonds said while commentating on the field during the game. Gilly told him off for saying it, but I can't for the life of me remember what he said?
