Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09

Nick Jewell named as StKilda's Pro on the Cricket Victoria website.....looks like he's not going to Frankston.

More money would be the logical reason, but not sure how much logic Jewell possess as he will be driving from Mt Martha

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09

Dont think Jewell was ever going to leave St. Kilda. Speaking to some Saints people during the finals and he made them a verbal promise to stay. Everyone just assumed that because he has bought a house down near Frankston that he would play there. If that was the case, how about the number of players who travel each week to play for their respective sides? Its more about loyalty than dollars.

this is from the frankston site

"Emerging Players Squad Sessions
20/06/2008

Over 20 players have participated in Frankston Peninsula’s emerging players coaching program this winter. The program has provided players with the opportunity to receive specialist coaching in pace bowling, spin bowling, batting against pace, spin, plus fielding and wicket keeping. Thankyou to all the parents for bringing the boys to the sessions, and thankyou to Regional Cricket Manager Jason Mathers, and Brett Hudson for assisting with the coordination of the program. Thankyou to all the coaches for their outstanding coaching, Chris Harris, Ken Davis, Ray Bright, Brad Glenn, Nick Jewell and David Saker.

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09

Happy to stand corrected now that CV has added Nick Jewell to Frankston's Professional Players list. The Heat is still going to struggle even with Jewell!!!

Of course but he will only strengthen the coaching department. Young players will benefit from it and it won't be long till Frankston start to climb back up the ladder again

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09

Interesting to see how Brett Harrop goes. Hopefully his body holds up. Bowling looks alright now though: Groves, Miller, Harrop, Wiley, Ryan. They could end up continuing their trend of making the finals every second year. Again, lots depends on Walker.

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09

who do we think are the players to watch in each team this season?? i have a few....

dandy- patto, well he is a test player
tigers- fekete good bowler providing he can stay fit
cats- joel davies needs a big year to show he can take the next step...
nth- curator been terrible for years so could play a big part if he comes good.
bombers- fletcher champion player and needs to fire for the dons to have a chance.
casey- rose should get lots of wickets with a steady pace attack around him.
blues- holland will help fortunes in the 2 day arena.
dogs- duckworth can he repeat last years efforts re: joel davies
hawks: dart needs 900-1000 runs for them to challenge.

Biggest joke ever.

He needs a big season to show that he is capable of playing first class cricket let alone the fact he got a game in a test side. BUt then again it is england

Clements from Frankston might need to show off the talent he has

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket 08/09

If Pattinson is not an Australian citizen, should he have been registered as an overseas player for the last few years?

have heard those rumours but is playing in England at the moment.. Could be good to the dogs batting as they did struggle last season and could free up love to do his work in the middle order with geisler and lindsay....

Heard some talk about him having to be a professional player now, or something.
