India in Pakistan

I can't wait for Feb 11th either... cause its my birthday.

andhramass, please group similar posts together instead of posting everything. For example, post all the team details (if you HAVE to) in one post. Thanks.

Happy birthday, sohum. If India wins, that will be my present for you.

Shoaib Akthar has been ruled out for Pakistan and Harbhajan might not play either. It's a must-win match for India as far as I'm concerned, hope they can pull it out.

The bowling was much better this time around and Sehwag has finally hit form. I thjnk the Indian batting line up is at a stage where it can successfully chase down 270 type targets almost every time (but knowing the inconsistency of Indian teams in the past, this may not be true). Tendulkar, Dravid, Yuvraj, and Sehwag all played true to form and India naturally won. I hope they carry this form throughout the series.

India in Pakistan

Happy Birthday Sohum, you must be happy that India won.

Im especially happy the way the openers batted. Sehwag and Sachin were just majestical. Sachin batted like the way he used to in the late 90's. I hope he continues to do so and has a good series.

Love the pics, Pal.

India in Pakistan

Thanks for the wishes. The way India played yesterday made me really happy. It was an incisive and decisive performance--there was no doubt about who the better team in that game was. Hopefully more of the same is to come.

but remember, this was against a Pakistan without Shoaib Akthar. Can they deliver the same performance when he's rippin in at 150kph tommorrow?

EDIT: saw today in cricinfo that Shoaib is out for the series. Thats great news for us. Rana naved doesn't have the pace to spearhead the Pakistani new ball attack. I'd rather see Asif opening the bowling first off if i was inzy.
I saw on the news that Sehwag is down with illness and won't play tomorrow. Gives Ghambir a very good opportunity. If he performs, the selectors would have a lot of thinking to do.

anyways, this match is going to be crucial. Whoever wins at Lahore will have a huge psycological advantage. I have a feeling that Pakistan, without Shoaib, are going to find it hard to pull it off. The key for india is early wickets. If we can get Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, and Shoaib Malik out early, we have a good chance. Even the Inzamam-Yusuf combo would find it hard to dig themselves out of that hole, as they haven't performed to their best in the last 2 odi's. Then we have Yunis Khan, who's in red hot form. We need him out early aswell. We can't let him settle down. I feel afridi won't be that much of an impact and will get out playing another rash stroke. Powar can't be forgotton and should stay as the SS in Lahore also.

India in Pakistan

yeah i guess thats true...we need to win the next match...if we can do what we did in the second odi we can win the third...but team india are inconsistent...we need to win this SERIES

This may be a bit premature and India might not win the game, but from what I saw today, I think Dhoni is a better batsman than Gilchrist. The way he batted coming in when India was faltering at 190/5 is just pure brilliance.

Edit: India wins, riding on the 102-run partnership between Dhoni and Yuvraj. Along with Tendulkar, all three have been in impeccable form of late. Pathan has been bowling well, but as I have said earlier, Sreesanth seems too expensive and rarely takes wickets.

Yes..Dhoni is a better batsman than Gilchrist and in the future he will be a Wicketkeeper like Gilchrist, he just need to practice more in keeping. Soon, he will be a number 1 Wicketkeeper in India and might be a batsman..may be a slogger, because Number 1 batsman is Sachin...

sreenath had so many wicket chance but it was all dropped, 3 chances dropped, you cant blame the youngester...the youngest is the best...he maintains the pressure on the batsmen...this is how pathan picks up his wickets

India in Pakistan

True, his final figures belie the way he bowled, but still, his economy rate is consistently over 5. I s'pose it wouldn't hurt giving him a few more chances, but I can't wait till Balaji comes back.

India in Pakistan

His career economy is in fact above 6. But that's because he's only played a few games. Even Pathan used to be 5.5+ at the beginning of his career and brought it down to around 4.9-5.2 (along with a severe drop in pace). But I really felt for Sreesanth. If he'd picked up those wickets, the batsmen may have played him with a little more respect.
