City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Interesting day as i rolled around from ground to ground on a glorious sunny Melbourne day and what i witnessed at Mackie Reserve was a disgrace for the Cmca, Brighton Union. C.C and cricket.
Brighton Union ended the day like a screaming child throwing there toys out of there cot, some of the behavior of Union's senior players was below average, infact even lower especially from Mr Pothitos. Clearly they are a Basket case and word filtering out of Mackie Reserve is the whole side is on a warning and if anyone steps out of line they will be done in big time i assure you.

Union's CV of misdemeanors and piss weak behavior is starting to rival extraordinary lengths and there Captain has no pull over any of his troopers, they are a sinking ship and fast becoming the most hated and disrespected club in the CMCA, which is a shame given the work over the years by such players as Goro, Frew and Co.

Clearly Uniting are a class above that rabble and the piss weak Union lacked any courage and fight to stand up when required with the bat, so instead chose to heckle and get in the face of the young incoming Uniting batsman of Backman & Richards. Uniting's motivation would have been at a all time high before today after Union's again 'piss weak' lack of respect to stay around for a Beer after the semi and water carsen (who ever he is) pathetic spray on here. But i would assume there motivation would have gone another notch higher and i sure Lalor, Russell, Ernst & Britt won't fall for there immature weak hearted, dog like overhand tactics tomorrow.

Yes it is a Final and it is all or nothing, but what i witnessed today was abysmal and as a long time Cmca person i am appalled with what i seen today.
I hope Uniting do it in a canter and i am sure they will and they will show some dignity in doing so, so tomorrow Union i say watch and learn and take stock on how to become a class/respected side.

Evening All,

Nice to see you again today Burgermeister did you recognise me?

Merl's score service for those who cannot navigate the CMCA site!!

The Bills are home and Old man Chubba Surridge will take home Harry after a scintalating ( I know the spelling is wrong but it is for my buddy Burgermeister ) 6 for 19 off 24.3 overs as the great Pretrenders collasped for 119 which would have left the Politican sader than the last election result. While the Bills are 2 for 19 it is game over and first leg of the quaddy locked in.

Merl's Heighters have bundled the Sponge Bobs out for 190 which Bradley will get on his own with some support from his team mates and it will be back into the top grade after an absence of many years.Old man Neil not required to bowl is a strange one.

In the Bobby Dazzler

The Bills at 6 for 203 have left the door slightly ajar for the Sponge Bobs but it will take an all day consistent effort to climb and topple the The Bill mountain!!

D Grade

No scores reported in Vinnie's match come on Vinnie lift your game!!

In E Grade
the Bills have scored a moderate 8 for 186 against the big boys from Mackie and if they have their V 8 turbos tuned up they nearly get up and spoil the last leg of the quaddy.

In F Grade

no scores from either the Beach Boys or Bluey McGaws teams and no apparent need to or penalty from Barrack,Hiliary and co after it is only a Granny and why would Joe Public want to know the scores?

Apparently I may still be giving credit to John Halliday for the The Bills scores service but a spy tells me Greg Brisbane may also be involved. As they are both avid readers of the BCF could you let us know who old Merl should be thanking for keeping him up to date?

G grade

The Bills at 2 for 43 are home after bundling out the broken down machine for 84.

No scores in either H Grade or I Grade so you will have to wait for Jimmy's eye balling radio show for updates on the missing scores

Time for a soothing Merlot to send the old boy off to sleep.

Merl over and out

An APB has been issued for anyone spotting BMF who bowls a little quicker than BP these days!!!!

Yes I did see you at the game, you were very shy, hiding away in the pocket there.. why not come up & say hello, its ok I wont bite !!

PS- Im tipping thats Coxy is not the Coxy, didn't look great from the side lines, but don't think it was as bad as he puts it.. Coxy-what do you expect walking out to bat for 6 overs after they got tolled for 120 & are 2-10, fairy bread & lemonade?? Hard as we dont know what was said exactly (as long as its kept reasonably clean), but its part of the game. If the batsman are 15 or 50 doesnt matter, you cross the line.. you take what comes!!
But id did think they might have sent a more senior player out to bat at 3, considering the situation...
Dont think it matters they will pass them ( think theyre might be a little scare somehwere) about 6 down i think.. Then im tipping get on here & payout to all the guys that gave it to them last night & drink from the 'Cup of Life' !!
Top effort chubba, we were discussing his age at the game yest, anyone know how old he is... I said 39??

Probably not he smartest move entering into a forum sledge fest in the middle of a finals series. I have waited until it was all over before responding to the comments about the BU v BU 2nd semi. It was a shame such a magnificent game was tarnished by Unions lack of sportsmanship and dummy spit at the fall of the 10th wicket. This petulance was carried into the forum a day or so later. Union sledged the Uniting bats unmercifully on day one. And so they should have. It was a final. In fact we would have been disappointed had we not copped it. Young Tim Brisbane in particular copped it long and hard but responded with a fine 80. Union got it back with interest the next day. Gregory copped plenty but responded in the best possible way with a superb 90 that almost won the game. No doubt he deserved 100. It was good, tough finals cricket in a game that ebbed and flowed. I know the spectators, of which were many, really enjoyed it.

4 run outs when at various times when they looked in a winning position obviously did not help their demeanour but Uniting cannot be held accountable for Unions lack of composure. That dummy spit and abuse of the Uniting players started the second that he (the person who may be the forum poster) was run out by half the length of the pitch and continued all the way back the pavilion and beyond. The rest of the team then showed a distinct lack of class. How about “what happens on the field stays on the field”? I reckon some of the more decent Union blokes would have been embarrassed by those events.

In regard to the unsavoury stuff late Saturday I won’t add to that. Leave the on field banter where it belongs - on the field. Union had already shown their ‘toughness’ with the bat so that other rubbish, including ‘engaging’ spectators was almost laughable. The young Uniting bats who were the target showed how intimidated they were by compiling a Shield winning partnership. Would have expected better from a club that has produced some fantastic blokes and some of the greatest players (and maybe the greatest) to ever grace the CMCA. With a few notable exceptions this lot are an embarrassment.

Yes I did see you at the game, you were very shy, hiding away in the pocket there.. why not come up & say hello, its ok I wont bite !!

Burgermeister

i was no where near the pocket you obviously have me confused with someone else I mingled with the crowd in front of the pavilion and saw a few old faces ( like mine ) that I haven't seen for a while.By the way I know who you are it is you who needs to come up to me and say GDay Merl!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Bills, not that the ever reliable John Haliday or his deputy Greg Brisbane have bothered the scorers with any scores yet.Thank God for the Merlot result service last night as surprise surprise no scores in the paper yet again but you keep telling me they are doing a good job!!! I suppose one good thing is that there will be no scores to put in the paper next week!!!!!!!!!!!!

I await the lifting of the child BCF ban when we can get a blow by blow version of his piece in the Bills great season. It will probably take a few days to sober up but hopefully we can get some of his vintage stuff.

Merl over but not out as I will be back with a scores update.

Surely we can give the garbage a rest and talk about the best CMCA Grand Final seen in many a year. For Chelsea it was fairytale stuff, but for the Wash Ups it must have been like living a nightmare - with Chelsea winning the unwinnable on the last ball of the match at 9 down after needing 25 off the last 3 overs and no bats in the shed. A remarkable effort in a game that was in the balance and looked gone when Ezard fell for a fine 50+ score. Congratulations to both sides on a game that will be spoken about for a long time for all the right reasons.

last 2 weeks. im an east sandy fan, but will try not to be biased here..
bottsy actually appears to have problems with his vision, in the prelim he gave the bloke out (run out) when he was in by about a metre and a half, no1 from elwood even appealed! the game was already over but hell...
lbw decisions were shockers both ways, one bloke smashed the cover off one and was on his way. Ross just doesnt stick his finger up, even if back on the crease hitting halfway up (which will sound familiar to some)
But what was FFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR worse was the fact that the umpires made no reasonable attempt to get the game going on the weekend when the rain stopped. The rain stopped 3 times during the hour, in which event the umpys were inside doing god knows what. on one occasion they walked out to inspect the pitch but took so long that by the time they had organised things the rain began to drizzle again, meaning play couldnt start. i know that they are both getting on in years, but it was a joke how slowly they walked to and from the pitch to inspect it (3 times in that hour, even though it was in immaculate condition, why did they need to take 10 mins to inspect the thing again!!?? its just grass out there.. it hasnt changed!!!!).
WHY DIDNT THEY WALK WITH SOME URGENCY???? WOULDNT YOU EXPECT UMPIRES TO WANT TO HAVE PLAY RESUME!!!!??? ISNT IT THEIR JOB!!!??? was very frustrating!!
not that the result was a foregone conclusion, but its unfortunate that the players were not able to play off to have another crack at the top prize this week, when i think that the game could have quite easily been played if the umpies wanted it to be
you must be superman to see a run out from 200yds away as i was informed that the bat was in the air as to wet weather all clubs were informed at the start of the season that if u come off due to rain the umpires were told it has to stop completly quodos to botty and ross for attempting to make it as fair as possible for both sides.

Uncle Mick,

Well said, proves the statesmam/Henry Kissinger type that you are.Great to have such a terrific game when you were hosting it at your home ground. As disappointing for the Sponge Bobs, I am naturally pleased for Merl's own Heighters who I tipped last November to climb back on top of the mountain, the only injustice was the injury that robbed Old man Neil to play in the Big Dance after all his terrific work.

I don't want to disappoint anyone particularly you Burgermeister as I know you hang om my every word but no scores again in the Age or the Sun today maybe the Bills had them published in the Fin Revenue given the magnificent return on their investment!!!!!

Pretenders,Vinnie's mob,Sponge Bob or the Timepiece Thimble water vessels now officially leaking haven't bothered to find my cricket to put any scores up, but Jimmy has put them in his highlights.Once again simply not good enough for Joe Public!!!!
Particular thanks once again to Greg Brisbane or John Halliday for all year getting the Bills scores up and the results are a just reward for all your hard work. You two couldn't move sideways and get Congress just as otganised could you?

Merl's full bottle wrap up and the final points in the FCFTC will be up loaded later.

I am off to mad Monday might see you there Burgermeister?

Merl over but not quite out

you must be superman to see a run out from 200yds away as i was informed that the bat was in the air as to wet weather all clubs were informed at the start of the season that if u come off due to rain the umpires were told it has to stop completly quodos to botty and ross for attempting to make it as fair as possible for both sides.

200 yards is a bit of a stretch. if you were informed this then it means that you werent there, for those who were it was laughable. in fact the group of people who i were sitting with were laughing. plus the elwood players barely appealed so they must all be blind too.. or perhaps just one man at the ground was incompetent, shame he was the umpire!

as for fair.. i hardly think that it was fair, FAIR would have seen the game finished and the best team on the day gone through to the grand final. yes it rained but as i stated it stopped twice during the hour and the umpires were not bothered enough to get the teams on the ground in this period so the game could be resumed.

and its obviously harder for the bowling side after rain anyway.

brighton union showed their form yesterday, the cmca community were robbed of a gf between the 2 best teams because of two incompetent umpires (mainly bott)

and burger i dont give a stuff who the other umpires should have been, but it just shouldnt have been bott. the other 2 from the semi would have been better. ross is not that bad, he just needs to stick his finger up every now and then (for both sides not just esbc)

What an amazing finish in Woolnough. Didn't see the end but saw a couple of pictures from Uncle Mick and the devastation of the Washups was obvious for all to see. A fair bit of sympathy goes to them as we were in exactly the same situation 10 years ago. After what they went through last season, they were one of the more determined clubs during pre season, they had their mission to right last year's wrongs. After 8 months of planing and preparation to get back into Longy, to fall short on the very last ball of the season is quite cruel.

Having said that, it will be refreshing to see a new face in the top grade, although it would have been much easier to drive to Packer Reserve than Zone 3 on match day. Well done to Chelsea Heights, and I'm sure they'll be on it for a fair while before normality kicks in.

Merl my good man, apologies for not being available on Saturday, but it was an honour to be in the esteemed presence of the most notorious BCF poster yesterday. I trust you enjoyed the HW experience and didn't find our prices as steep as the Pretenders you weren't happy with.
Back to the cricket and I still can't stop talking to anyone who will listen to me about the game on the weekend. That was the first time I've seen Chelsea Heights in 10 years and what a re-introduction it was. I've never seen a side as competitive as CH with 4 kids under 16. The challenge for them now will be hanging on to those kids as they attempt to make the cut in the top flight. However, I was led to believe after the game that these kids will be there for another couple of years. Young Cleaver who played an innings beyond his years will be hard to hang onto.
CH looked gone at 7/142 with Ezard departing. The run rate was anywhere between 6-8 an over and when the opening bowler holed out making it 8/146 there was a sense of inevitability about the result. Finding out the #11 hadn't scored a run for 2 years and the side still needing 23 runs all but confirm what everyone at the ground thought. I think it was something like 25 needed off 3 overs; 21 needed off 2 overs and 14 or 15 needed off the last. How they pulled that off could only be seen to be believed.
You have to feel for the Wash Ups who busted their arses off all day and probably had their minds on the sweet taste of that first beer with a couple of overs to go. Credit to Sponge Bob and his boys for the way they handled themselves.

No scores in paper is Jimmy's fault as he did not have time to get it done Merlot. Ex-Condaleesa was convalescing in hospital after ambulance trip on Friday (you will be glad to know back on the beach at Willy now) but rang Jimmy to give him the tel # of AAPP. Also in hospital not too well is Exec member Jen Ashkar who fell ill after Friday night junior final presentation she was attending but is going better now. Obviously takes a bit of a toll this time of the year. Best wishes to both.

Uncle Mick,

The pleasure was all mine to meet the doyen of the BCF but I hope your phone hasn't rang off the hook with the Burgermeister pestering you for who is the infamous one, a secret that you now share with the sub continent domained Archie!!

No problem with the prices as the frothies certainly quelled the thirst on warm day.Highett West should now be locked in as one of the CMCA premier ovals and certainly deserves a return bout next year after the great success and atmosphere yesterday.

It is with great pleasure that I announce humbly that Merl has taken out the Father Christmas Finals Tipping Contest by a point from the oasisless Bottsy and Uncle Mick a further point behind

2010 11 Father Christmas Finals Tipping Competition
1 Merlot 13 4 8 25
2 Bottsy 12 5 7 24
3 Unc Mick 9 8 6 23
4 Mentalist 10 3 7 20
Ord Bloke 8 6 6 20
6 Jimmy 8 5 4 17
7 Peter Parker 7 4 5 16
8 No Fox 10 5 0 15
9 Sugar 8 1 4 13

Merl has equalled the Bills 4 titles with 4 of his own after sharing the Big Mac Photo Identikit footy tipping trophy with Uncle Mick, snaring the Merlot Horlicks Trophy, taking out the Bobby Dazzler and finally the FCFTC in a close battle just shows the old boy knows a bit about the game. Thanks to all the participants for contributing in a test of knowledge of all grades not the favoured two that normally happens.

No doubt the Bills are a little worse for wear after a huge mad Monday and runour has it that the child is about to unload after climbing the mountain again and picking up another Longy medal.

The Bills certainly got maximum return on their Billion dollar investment and all players and officials should be congratulated on their magnificent achievement. The pretenders need to regroup and maybe the politician needs to re unionise the foreign legion back to the force of their glory days.

A unique record that both Barrack and Hiliary are both former players and administrators from the former Lake Centenary that now boasts an Oasis and the trophy named after one of their great servants of the game.I can just see Barrack puffing out that chest in pride of the great achievement of his club.

Merl's Heighters and the vanquished Sponge Bobs congratulations on a magnificent spectalce of park cricket played in the great spirit the game was intended to be played in.

The Bills in the Bobby Dazzler in the 2nd leg of the quaddy left the Sponge Bobs in their wake in a good performance , with the SB's missing out on the JQ trophy.

No idea what happened in D Grade where Vinnie's mob went down to the Pretenders who got the consolation prize after their ones compounded.

The Bills had too much grunt for the out of tune Machine in E Grade for a comfortable win.

A low scoring affair in E Grade saw Merl's Beach Boys hand the cup to Bluey's Boys when they couldn't even chase down 102.A bit of winter boot camp needed down at the beach Field Marshall to toughen up all teams in the club!!!

G Grade saw the Bills scrap home against the machine who ran out of petrol as they crossed the finishing line.

The Sponge Bobs Twiggy and Dad celebrated the official end of the J word when the gave the Timepiece Thimble leaking water vessels a comfortable beating!!! Still no sign of BM or BMF maybe they have eloped together?

Not exactly sure what happen in I Grade where the party Boys were left in front of the Golfers in what appears to be unfinished business?

Just a word of warning for all you Hibernation Bears not to nick off to your winter caves as I challenge you to try and knock off Uncle Mick and i in the Big Mac/Photo Identikit Footy Tipping contest as like Vinnie's sagpies we intend to go back to back.

Usual rules tips in by 6pm the night of the game,if you don't tip you get lowest less 1, no points for a draw unless you tip it then you get 2 points and Merl will provide a weekly ladder in a much better effort than last year.

enough from Merl over and out

and burger i dont give a stuff who the other umpires should have been, but it just shouldnt have been bott. the other 2 from the semi would have been better. ross is not that bad, he just needs to stick his finger up every now and then (for both sides not just esbc)

u seem to be a big rossi fan just like the bmf if u have the coconuts get off youre ass and put the blue shirt on and then u might be able to make unbiased comments no one doubts esb were the side to be in the big dance if barrack and co had used forsight as the weather had been crazy all season they could have made the labor day a reserve day union were ugly and not up to it.

Still on Union, has anyone heard about their D Grade final against Omega at Bricker? I heard there were some physical altercations on the field, which might have been caught on video. Is anyone aware of this?

I'd heard there was an incident, but not that much detail. Also was told of an incident in the I Grade GF that will more than likely end a career.

Was unfortunately, yet fortunately down at the exciting Woolnough final - great game - Congrats to Chelsea Heights - both were deservered winners - unbelievable last over - Michael Bevan like!!
In relation to the D grade final, I have been reliably informed that again the Brighton Union 3rd eleven lowered their stripes as they embarrassed not only their club but the CMCA in the way both players and their supporters conducted themselves. Things seem to be drastically spiralling out of control at Union starting with their 1st eleven side self destructing and behaving poorly at the Longy grand final, to their 3rd eleven players summoning some of their supporters to run onto the field - to which supposedly they did - during the match when things got a little heated on the field. That's a disgrace Union....surely some lengthy suspensions will be dealt to some Union players for such deplorable acts.
The CMCA seriously needs to address this issue, as this behaviour from Brighton Union and its players has been going on for far too long without appropriate discipline. Brighton Union is fast becoming the St Kilda City of this competition.
