Subbies 2011/12

I think you're right. I would love to see/play against Brad Hodge in this format and I congratulate Coburg for getting him. If he gets a dollar, good for him, because he will give more than he gets.

But the Premier players, PARLEESE!!!!. They are just after an extra innings, its better (for them) than normal Tuesday training, and don't worry, plenty of them are being "re imbursed" for their time, and it prevents our own players from having time in the middle.

Just to top matters off, the Lions, who have figured in all three finals (and won two) will announce that Brendan Drew will be playing for them throughout the rest of the competition.
WHAT THE? Is that including Harwood? Disgusting!

Harwood is their registered player, so of course they can play him. Apparently Geisler is out of retirment and was also playing last night. (can any one confirm?) It's no different to Rummanns ( i hope I have enough m's & n's) playing for Caulfield. Let me tell you for anyone who hasn't run into him when he is "going", he will be the most scary proposition going around, other than Brad Hodges' cameo.

I reckon, Caulfield are after the double and perhaps Rummanns' just wants to play at a "good club." because we were told last year, that's their main recruiting strategy.

Tips for the weekend.
Williamstown over Malvern
Broady in an upset over Elsternwick
Ormond to keep winning against Werribee
Melton over Kingston
Caulfield over Sunshine
Brighton over Yarraville
Altona over Moorabbin.

Great weekend for cricket! Moorabin smashing Altona with a massive score, Malvern really battling at the minute and Melton back to their best by the looks. tipped all bar Yarraville and Moorabin. Two day cricket kicking off this weekend, should be a relief for some sides I would have thought.

Agreed herbert,as we get into 2 day cricket we'll find out who are the genuine improvers, looks like Ormond,Werribee,Yarraville might be on the up,certainly Malvern look in trouble, smashed by Willy .
The perennials,Caulfield and Melton looking ominous even this far out.
Anyone got any thoughts on North/East?.McGuiness from Oakleigh in sparkling form, probably the early favourite for the medal.

Yep spot on, the two day stuff will give a clearer indication of how much of a threat sides like Ormond, Yarraville and Werribee will actually be to Caulfield and Melton. Kingston Saints along with Sunshine and Malvern look as if they will round out the bottom of the table. Someone other than Entwhistle needs to score some runs for Kingston or they are going to have a long season. Malvern Prob in a worse spot as they dont really have an Entwhistle like player to bat around.

We are definitely looking forward to the 2 dayers getting under way with Inness and Speakman able to bowl 20+ overs each instead of the 9 they've been getting.

McGuiness is flying but so is Alex Hewet, Yarraville's new skipper. He has season figures of 11/23 off 26 overs with 4/7, 4/6 and 3/10 in an unbelievable start to the season.

I have heard that Geisler may be a chance of returning for Melton which will only strengthen them.

Great season so far, question is can any teams displace Melton and Caulfield ? Lots of teams have shown improvement - Ormond, Werribee, Brighton, Yarraville and Altona but can any of these teams push the top 2 ? Still expect Malvern and Williamstown to push for finals. Hard to see anything but Melton v Caulfield this year. Please prove me wrong !!!

Yeah its hard to say, it seems as if a few sides have a bit of quality added this year which could mean Caulfield and Melton might not be as untouchable as people think. Lets just hope for the best I guess.

Thanks Herbert, couldn't agree more about runs. Not sure if we are bottom 3, we've played 2 teams that lost 1 game between them last year, but I suppose time will tell. After playing both, I think Melton have their noses in front. Reports are that Geisler may be back at some stage.

Let's hope we get some 2 day stuff going!

Yeah maybe ive jumped the gun with bottom 3 but there needs to be a few other contributors, early days though so there is plenty of time for improvement. Caulfields bowling a touch weaker this year?
