Australian T20I XI - Selection Thread

I know he had an ordinary tournament but I have no idea why Bailey didn't bowl Hogg out in that game.

Did anyone bother to watch the women's final? Actually wasn't too bad a game for once.

I'm not sure either, it basically put the game just about out of reach. I'm hoping Michael Beer gets a game, economy rate of just over 6 in T20 Domestic games which is pretty good, Hogg is about 6.75 now and both did okay at the recent Champions League T20.

After all the squealing over David Hussey being left out, he played what was possibly the worst shot by an Aussie in the entire tournament. I'm not even sure it was a shot, I really couldn't tell what he was trying to do it was that awful. Damn funny to watch though.

Hopefully, that will be it for him in T20 and for White for at least this summer, but I'm getting ahead of myself I know. One if not both of them will be there come the next T20I.

Think D. Hussey might be out but they'll persist with White I reckon at least for this summer although neither should be there really.

Doherty was unlucky to get a lbw decision turned down when the replay showed it was plumb. Why Bailey decided to bowl Doherty for the last over I don't know though. Doherty was getting smashed by Chris Gayle all game so I don't why Bailey thought it would be any different in the last over. Bailey should of bowled Brad Hogg at least he has the wrong un, unlike Doherty who tosses them up and hopes for the best.

Bad way to end a pretty successful tournament.

T20 squad v Sri Lanka

George Bailey (capt), Ben Cutting, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Ben Laughlin, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Adam Voges, Matthew Wade, David Warner.

Dave Hussey the notable exclusion there.

About time David Hussey was given the flick. Domestically, he's good but internationally he's pretty bloody ordinary. I wish they'd drop him from the one day team as well and give someone else at least a quarter of the matches he's had.

I do not like Adam Voges's selection in Australia's Twenty20 squad. Luke Pomersbach and Ben Rohrer should both be ahead of him as Twenty20 batsman. When Adam Voges was batting he did nothing to help out David Warner. He was just picking up easy singles and putting all the pressure on David Warner to score boundaries. This might sound like a good idea to get the in form batsman on strike but by that stage David was tiring and needed some support. Adam Voges needed to sum up the game situation and hit a couple of boundaries, instead of leaving it all up to David Warner to do. Adam Voges strike rate was below a run a ball which simply is not good enough in Twenty20. The selectors need to drop him from the team.

Agreed. Pommers was very unlucky. Funny only one Heat player got into the national side.

Voges was one of the form players in the Big Bash, played several great innings for the Scorchers and was selected accordingly. You'll also notice that most of the other batsman struggled in the Sri Lanka T20's so Voges wasn't alone in his endeavours.

Good to see Shaun Marsh back in the side though, had a fantastic Big Bash and hopefully he'll have a lengthy stay in the T20 team and also the others in the future.

Ben Rohrer and Coulter-Nile in for the game against the WI, pretty fair selections. Haddin also taking the gloves from Wade.

I don't why the selectors keep picking Brad Haddin. He might be a good wicket keeper but they carry on about looking to future yet they ignore younger promising wicket keepers like Tim Paine.

Ben Rohrer and Coulter-Nile are good selections. Luke Pomersbach is again unlucky to miss out on selection.

Another T20 loss, surely we have a few other players available who can make the step up to this level. Not sure why McKay keeps getting selected in this form of the game.

Re: Australian T20I XI - Selection Thread

My team would probably be something like this..

Warner
Watson
S.Marsh
White (c)
M.Hussey
Haddin
S.Smith
Hopes
Hauritz
Nannes
Tait

12th man Voges

Bracken in if fit.
BUT WHY HADDIN.I THINK YOU SHOULD CHOOSE MATHEW WADE.

MCKAY IS NOT A GOOD BOWLER.HE JUST CANT BOWL AT THE DEATH.HE CAN JUST SWING THE BALL.

Enough has been said about the appalling Khawaja dismissal. The DRS is killing cricket and should be removed from the game.

Interesting that as soon as Khawaja came in they introduced Swan into the attack. They have identified that he is clueless against spin.

I would expect that Australia would get to 500+. Do we have the attack to get 20 wickets? Definitely more spinning options. The Poms will be ruing their decision not to play Panesar.

Got a feeling this match is heading for a draw

Think this is in the wrong section but i don't agree with your DRS position. The problem is not the DRS it is the way it is used. The decision last night was straight forward and should have been decided after the first three or four replays. No hot spot no edge not out. Simple minimum time wasted. I reaffirm my comment from last night, Who made lots of money from that decision.

We will miss bird badly in this game, Stark is not consistent enough.
