No offence to Villani, but although he's had a brilliant year (20 wickets @ 10.50) there are blokes with more wickets, and 200 more runs ie Still, or Doyle has 2 less wickets but has 220 more runs. Lever, whilst has had a good year, if you ranked the all rounders, he'd be about 4th or 5th in line this year.

hey serge, today i bumped into a heidelberg guy on a delivery, he says macleod is training at heid tonight?????? and heid training at macleod next week???what the??? then i found heid facebook page.....and this

Boys please note over the next two weeks we will have a bit of an exchange with Macleod with our training.

This THURSDAY from 6-7pm we will have Macleods 1st XI bowlers bowling to us in the centre wicket.

Next TUESDAY we will have our 1st XI bowlers go to Macleod Park to bowl to their 1sts as well.

Thank you to Banger and Timmy Wise who have been co-ordinating this.

It will provide something different and will be a good change up from our usual week-in week-out routine.
Batsmen make sure you get to training Thursday, Macleod are a Top 4 Barclay Shield Club and this will provide an opportunity to face good quality unknown bowlers and prepare us as best as possible to chase down the runs this week.

Bit of love between the clubs hey!

With Villani, you need bowlers to contain runs, hence the choice ahead of Callum.
Reckon its a good balance to be honest, but hey, thats just my opinion

Seems like a pretty good initiative to me.

can't agree, never heard anything like it before! be interested to hear feedback from players on this one.

st.kilda are struggling lets get them to train with hawthorn.....umm NO.
Except that in that analogy you're talking about two teams that play against each other all year. The more apt analogy would be, Port Melbourne's key forwards are struggling to kick goals, so they're going to do some match simulation against Norwood's backline.

Sounds a good idea to me too, there's a real familiarity you get facing the same bowlers 2x a week 20 odd weeks a year.

Completely different scenarios. StKilda play against Hawthorn. Heidelberg don't against Macleod. And it's a completely different sport. No different to having a mid season practice match. A good way to mix things up and keep training fresh after what can sometimes be a long season.

I like it

a mid season practice match??? what? when has that ever happened?

diff scenario maybe, but IF heid win the flag will they not play macleod next year.

my source tells me players put on a brave face but basically didnt like the idea

Next season?? Big deal. It's about batsmen getting centre wicket practice but removing the familiarity of facing the bowlers they face twice a week all season.

As I guy pretending to be able to bat, I'd like it if, leading into finals we had centre wicket practice against a good bowling attack from another club.

I applaud clubs for thinking outside the box and doing something different. Playing groups should embrace something that breaks up the monotony of training don't you think?

If it turns out the guys enjoyed it, and it was a success then it will probably go ahead again next season.

I'm saying that it's good to mix things up, I can't see how it could be a negative.

People are afraid of what's different. It doesn't make it wrong.

Perfectly said.

You can probably throw a blanket over most local comps. Comps like VSDCA, VTCA (top grade), DDCA are a little bit stronger, probably because they spend more money on their pros. They're all turf comps though, a better comparison is with RDCA, BHRDCA, NMCA and ECA synthetic. The guys making runs and taking wickets in the DVCA would all do the same in those comps.

Ok out of the synthetic comps is there much difference in standards between (nmca, eca) and us?

Depends on who you talk to. Each of the comps would think they are the stronger comp. It would also depend on what you rate as being the key focus.

Who has the stronger players?
Who has the best teams?
Who has the most even comp?

Well stronger players generally mean stronger teams right? I dont know just if you took ALL these factors into consideration which one would be ur pick?

I played in the nmca and i now i have moved to diamond valley atm and i am very impressed by the standard which is definitely better then jika. I am struggling to score a run this year ( i am a batsman) whereas in my old comp scoring a 50 was a piece of cake. But i want to know how this comp would fare against some of the other strong comps around melbourne like eca or vtca etc. (obviously i know premier cricket is the best ) but just so i can gauge how good of a cricketer i am in terms of the bigger picture.

As a comparison , lets compare rosanna with northbrunswick rosebank who played together a few years back.
NBR are the best team in nmca , yet rosanna are around 4-6 ranked in dvca.
DVCA definitely has stronger overall clubs compared to NMCA. A side like olympic colts for instance , would struggle in money shield , yet are 4th ir 5th in the top grade in Nmca.
There is the comparison.
Dont know anything about the other comps

Massive win by Epping, looks like they have played themselves into a finals spot. Fate is in their own hands.

Great outright win by Macleod, obviously looking to avoid a semi at Creek, and play at home instead.

Plenty maybe drop one they can affod to and use it as a wake up call?

Rosanna and Riverside the unlucky ones to miss out I think.

Plenty
Macleod
Diamond Creek
Epping

And................wonder who'd win if RECCC played a match against NEW this week?
