My take is the Aussies will be looking at a 200 lead then declare. That will give the Poms a lot of score board pressure even tho it is no minefield to bat on. Steven Smith is a good strategic captain so he will keep the opposition under the pump..Could this test match end up as a draw?
Might Australia declare?
Decisions!
See how it goes but such strategic thinking is interesting.
It was great to see Head and Smith each get another century plus.
Them and the Richies which disbanded in this Test thankfully. Brother and I have first hand experience with these drunken Aussie buffoons as they were positively embarrassing after a gut full by roaming round the ground shouting, falling over and generally being a bloody nuisance and a massive embarrassment.Thank god this is the last time I have to listen to those drunken buffoons the balmy army.
A fab career by Midge spoilt only by her poor Test record as she lacked the technique needed for seaming pitches. And for all her white ball feats, she was not our best with Meg Lanning, Belinda Clarke, Karen Rolton and Ellyse Perry all having better ODI records.![]()
As she hangs up her bat and gloves, Healy is set to conquer a new arena
Alyssa Healy was thrust into headlines when she was just 16 for daring to break into a literal old boys' club, but has expertly handled the national spotlight with bat, ball and microphone in hand.www.abc.net.au
I watched it. Great win by the Aussies. Agree Healy retirement celebrations were a touch over the top.Anyone watching the Test with the women? From an Pommie point of view watching the coverage, the constant fawning appreciation for Healy's a bit over the top but I kind of get it. I'm here mainly to watch Alannah King, she's bowling exceptionally well here on day three, I'm watching a replay and she's only into her 3rd over, but she's keeping it really tight. Looking to see what make her No.1 at the moment. What is for sure she's a whole lot better than our Leggy Sarah Glenn who seems more invested in being a social media entity. Generally the bowling has been phenomenal for the Aussies right across the board. Shame India weren't able to put up a bit more of a fight.
The commentators just mentioned the fact that King doesn't have a wrong-un. That might be a Warney-ism the opposite to him having 18 variations when really he had 3. I looks to me that she has only the Leg-Break which is baffling, but there's value obviously in being able to do the one thing exceptionally well and at the moment she's doing this - landing it on a hankerchief type approach. They also mentioned that she goes from one series to the next and has no time to develop any of the variations. In today's situation this is perfect for her - there's no way that the Aussies are going to lose this, so she's totally relaxed and that's one of the key elements of bowling wrist-spin. The Aussie side is a good side to be a wrist-spinner for. Be good to see her bowling under a lot more pressure. * Ash Gardner on now - loving her bowling, she'll clean up now I reckon.
Litchfield looks like a problem for any opposition. Australia seem to have a conveyer belt of superstarts being dropped into the team as and when needed.I watched it. Great win by the Aussies. Agree Healy retirement celebrations were a touch over the top.
I was wondering why Alana had not bowled the wrong'n, now I know. I am sure she will develop it at some stage of her career. That and the flipper at which Warne was a master.
Young left arm quick debutant Lucy Hamilton looks a good prospect and along with Sutherland, Litchfield, Voll and several other next genners on the brink of international cricket, they will form the nucleus of a future Southern Stars lineup. The only question mark for me is the player chosen to be the new captain, Molineaux , with her stats as an all rounder not standing up to scrutiny.
I also watched most of the recent England Lions Aussie series and there are some good prospects. Five that had my eye were; Emilio Gay (Durham), Eddie Jack (Hampshire), Asa Tribe (Glamorgan) and the Rew brothers. Their opposition produced some young emerging talent too, not yet superstars but maybe down the track. Gotta say this is the most excited I have been about next gen Aussie cricket for decades. Started in '24 with dual Junior Ashes (U19) youth Test series one in Brisbane the other later in the Old Dart, both won by our boys. And continued the following year when most of those same kids rolled India to win the WC. I can name a large crop of these promising kids but that will probably only bore you, so only these five stand outs, seam specialist Charlie Anderson, 20, has similar smothering skills to Josh Hazlewood, Nitesh Samuel,19, top order bat, quick Kasey Barton,18, a fast whippy action that surprises batsmen, Oliver Peake, 20, middle order bat, Ryan Hicks, 20, a genuine wicket keeper/batsman, meaning he can bat in the top six, even top four.Australia seem to have a conveyer belt of superstars

Who leggie Lloyd Pope the Aussie kid that took 8 against your blokes. Has struggled for consistency, never able to nail a permanent first grade spot for his state.Any new spinners coming through? What happened to the ginger kid a few years back?
Yeah that's the bloke. That's a shame, is he still at it?Who leggie Lloyd Pope the Aussie kid that took 8 against your blokes. Has struggled for consistency, never able to nail a permanent first grade spot for his state.
