Weve got a real good pom and 2 or 3 close but no one signed yet. Cant find players for senior div at these prices but for lower grades look at blokes who did ok in senior (250-300 runs, 20 to 25 wickets) who wouldn't be on coin and try your luck. Bloke like McEchran has been very good for hoppers, wouldnt think he's on much more than this, but who knows.

Re: North A & B

hey boys i am from geelong and the club i play for is looking for a quality bat/bowler to play or poss coach. we ve played in finals/flags since 2000... just wondering if you guys know anyone moving down or would come down to play???

For that sort of money you expect a player to both bat and bowl. With a top score of 30 for the season and an average of 8.9 with the bat this is surely a 'no-brainer' at this expected price. If the guy averaged 25 with the bat then he could be considered.
Granted 51 wkt at 10.9 is an awesone return for the season, but that is at North A1 level, Avondale will not be playing that level next season and historical stats suggest that he will not return 50+ wickets in the next division up. That said Tulla will still be in North A, so this could be a easy replacement for Z. Still not worth 8-10k in my opinion.

THe figure of 8-10 grand including incentives was banded around by the palyer through his agent to our club + 1 or 2 other clubs, including Tulla i was told who expressed interest in him during the season.

The comment about his ability to perform at the next level is spot on.
He had a dream season, was the major reason behind Avondales' successful season, no doubts about that & for that welldone to the bloke but he took only 1 wicket in the finals & that was the no:11 batsmen for tulla in the semi.

given that i think he would be wise to stay at Nth A level or below.

Any other news on paid player signings at North clubs?
Which club is active on the recruitment front ?

rumor says its mccammond from footscray, left armer, pretty quick but has had a few injuries over the years. Am told he's a good fella. bats 11 at footscray but that doesn't mean he wont get a few runs at 7 or 8ish

Great pickup , if he stays injury free & ofcource if this rumor is true.
Dunn and Mccammond with the new cherry, arguably could form the best new ball attack, depends on which grade St Albans play after the VTCA reshuffle, Suffice to say bowling side out won't be a problem.

Apparently they expressed interest in him when they played AH this year twice, if they come up with the cash that the import wants then he's theirs.

Looks like AH definately don't have the $$$'s to keep him & import wants a few grand more + improved $incentives per wicket/runs etc. All that is outta AH spending leauge.

Imports agent is banding around 8.5-10k $figure, DO u blokes rekon he's worth that?

Re: North A & B

After last night's extraordinary general meeting:
The Altona Roosters have now officially joined the VTCA and will be starting in North B1/B2.
We are aware that this change will not be easy but with the dedicated people we have on board we are more than confidant this move will be a successfull one.
The most heartening part was that the vote was unanimous.

We are actively seeking players to join us on our new path especially all those disgruntled Church players.

We have already spoken to 3 potential coaches and will continue to look for players.
We hope to announce our perspective coach by the end of the month.
Potential players or coaches please send a pm as our door is open and will entertain any expressions of interest.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE CHALLENGE

Gr$$nvale would have cost plenty this year as would Port Melbourne. Neither did enough to earn the right to promotion.
Throwing cash at "guns for hire" does not work. North and South A are a very solid standard of cricket with some great players and clubs, just shows that you simply cannot just buy a couple of "guns" and expect to win a flag.

Z is a junior I believe. He would only be on incentives with a maybe a small sign on. Windy may be on a little bit, but I'd be staggered if it was close to $10k.

tell him he's dreaming. basically has every 2nd saturday off (av 8.9 with the bat) and wants 1k a game, there expensive wickets. Go and get 2 players, 1 an batting allrounder who can get you 400 runs + 15-20 wickets and a bowler who will get you 30-35 wickets and 175-200 runs. Between 4-4.5 k each sounds a better idea to me

Has won 3 Comp medals - the money mogels down the road threw heaps at him to come across last season and he stayed put - you work it out

VTCA website has him listed as a "former professional" with Roach and Windridge declared as the money earners - Father Xmas is alive and well and the Easter Bunny obviously lives at the bottom of your garden.

Clearly with D wolfe and MCammond are Top class inclusion at VTCA Nth A level, add to that dunn + a couple of other handy players already there they'll be amongst the top 2 teams to beat.

Am not surprised to hear they have made these inclusions, playing against them this year, could see they were not their usual cocky self assured self, in fact they were one of the easy beats and looking at the fawned sad little faces of their heirarchy could tell they were pondering big spending and return to the top.

Fronting up against 'em this season will not be as easy as the past 2 seasons.
Will be a massive challenge to beat 'em.

They have slipped away since winning the Nth A2 flag and runners up in Nth A1 a couple of years ago. They have a few good young blokes coming through, but again this takes time. got the money down there to bring in big names. not many in the Nth A that can compete with them on the spending front, but imports dont always win you flags, which has been well documented.

Re: North A & B

Talking of clubs spending big money what about greenvale ??

pizaro courts would be on 10 grand plus each then kent and innes would be on a fair whack too probably 7 to 8 grand sure is some money being thrown out on north a !

what would most of the paid players be getting paid a season in the comp ? 5 to 10 grand ?? surely the imports must cost a bit as well would have to be at 10 grand ? when u include jobs /airfares / incentives?

another thing surely it is time for the competition to bring in bowler restricitons !!

look at the bowling averages and how many overs the big guns bowled such as pizaro the imports zahorodni averaging around 10 ! while the best bats in the comp were averaging only 30 - 40 , with wickets being very substandard in the comp surely we need to even things up with totals only around 120 -150 reguarly surely we are better off having teams getting 180 - 200 and providing better matches . Restrictions also allow the rest of the team to gain more responsibility and impact in a game instead of being just specialist fielders batting 10 and not bowling!!!

It will be about 55 points per team in the first year,

Off the top off my head 10 Points is Max which will fall to most top grade players ie First class district ect.

4 Points for juniors coming though.

Hardest hit will be the clubs without juniors but i think VTCA will look into this not a major issue as all they have to do is subject some points for them.

They will start the points from the 06-07 season i think so eg someone who is on ten points as off next season the will only be worth 7 one point off 4 every year.

I think it will work, hard to explame but i hope u get the idea
EMAIL - To All Clubs

SUBJECT - Player Points System

After a long and exhaustive review and meetings with Clubs, the Association has finally arrived at what is the final version of the Player Points System to be implemented for Season 2009/10. A special thanks must go to all those Club representatives who attended meetings for their input and enthusiasm.

Attached you will find -
.Guidelines on Implementation
.Rating Points to be allocated
.Your 2008/09 1st. X1 playing list (separate attachment)

Club Requirements -
.A full understanding of the Implementation Process
.Apply points to last Seasons 1st. X1 playing list as per guidelines (2008/09 - Year Zero)
.Add to that list any new players ( Including points) that will play 1st. X1 Season 2009/10
.Establish and record points value for 2009/10
.Return initial list to vtex07 at vtca.asn.auby 16th. May 2009
.Whilst this notification has been sent to all your Clubs nominated contacts, to allow as many people as possible to familiarize themselves with the System, Only one reply per Club is required.

NOTE :
.As a result of the Club Meetings, the Guidelines of Implementation and Point allocation criteria may have changed since your Clubs meeting with the Executive - please review carefully using this attachment and not the one you received at your meeting.
.As with any new process there is likely to be points of clarification needed. We would encourage Clubs to work through the process prior to contacting ( by email ) either Adam Wilcock or Russell Pollock as delays may occur.

.The Points Cap for Season 2009/10 will be 54 POINTS

I wasn't far off on the new points system.

Looks good but will be some teething problems for clubs that are close to the max points when it comes to adding up who is on what

You cant be serious. How does limiting bowlers improve matches, its a false economy. If scores are low because of crap wickets, fix the wickets. Bowling restrictions are great in under age cricket, but this is senior first X1 cricket. If your good enough you will bowl, if your not improve.
