Elsternwick's 3rds / 4ths played at home!

Brighton's first's shouldn't have played.... wicket was mud at best .. umpires pushed for a start at 3:00pm

to say it did a little is the understatement of the year

Re: Subbies season 09/10

No major surprises last week, bar Willy and melton slaughtering 6 points by not playing,
No such problems tomorrow with asunny 30 degrees tipped.
Melton v Willy- should be a cracker,Willy's best chance would be win the toss and bat and post a competitive total,Sheedy in imperious form probably the key but after all that I'llstick with the reigning champs.
Ormond v Elsternwick-tipping the visitors but with no real confidence, much depends on Beshara, what's new?.
Sunshine v Yarra-both sides struggle with their attacks,if Love fires then Yarra will get the bikkies.
Caulfield v Altona-match of the day, even money bet, maybe Altona's batting depth could get them home but Caulfield rarely lose at home,Altona in a ripper.
Kingston v Brighton-the visitors too strong for a disappointing saints side coming off a hiding last round.
Werribee v Malvern-interesting game but will stick with a new look Roosters side minus Craig and others.
Broady v Moorabbin-the binners too talented for a struggling Broady side who rely far too much on Goodwin and often don't make enough runs..
Bring it on boys!

Good rap PB agree on most of the tips.
Willy v Melton and Caulfield v Altona should be crackers.
You will be interested to hear that Goodwin from Broady is now captain/coach of Whittlesea so they can't even rely on him now they are all on their own.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Thanks for that ywl, they don't seem to have replaced him with a big name either which suggests they might struggle again.

What type of injury could a cricketer possibly suffer which would put him out for over a year?

Many. Knee, bad OP, continual stress fractures. Many injuries can complicate themselves.

Out of those, stressies are the only one that might be a year, and only then for an out and out bowler.

Knee - six months for a cricketer.

OP - unless you play another sport in winter, you probably wouldn't even miss a match.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

sus it out on the dvca page, surely theres info there. i just got told by some1 hes finished for the season. hes not a young bloke and bowled stacks of leggies for broady over the years

For a bowler, left knee can destroy you. Mate of mine did his left knee, hasn't bowled in a match for about 2 years.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

You'd better tell your mates at Willy to put an extra barrel on just for you Weopons.
Who's the axeman,Beshara?
No surprises last week,Caulfield/Altona must have been a beauty, even this early it looks like theres only Melton,Altona,Malvern,Caulfield and Probably Willy/Brighton as finals chances.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Looks likely there'll be only one winner this weekend, the poxy weather, but will have a quick preview anyhow.
Willy v Ormond-the home side should open their account without too many worries against a struggling Ormond.
Moorabbin v Elsternwick-looks evenly matched,go with Moorabbin at home.
yarra v Melton-the visitors long odds on,look on course for consecutive flags.
Altona v Sunshine-another belting on the cards here, although bit of a collapso last week some cause for concern?,had Caulfield on the ropes but couldn't finish the bizzo.
Brighton v Caulfield-match of the round, from memory I think Brighton may have won this one last year and I'll tip them in a surprise again.
Malvern v Kingston-another game which looks one sided on paper, can Bhatt produce another 9 fa?
Broady v Werribee-throw a dart at the board, maybe the Falcons in a tipsters nightmare.
Not the most inspiring round ever, rain the obvious threat,Good luck boys

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Willy- Ormond will struggle all season
Elsternwick- Moorabbin haven't played anyone of note yet
Melton
Altona

Brighton in a close one, big rivalry in the last few years.
Malvern- Can Bhatt get 9 for again? No, he cant
Broady
Interesting few weeks ahead, with the Sat/Sun game this week, then the make up round in 2 weeks so the ladder should really take shape over the next month. Just hoping we get on this weekend, maybe a few onedayers on sundays if saturday is too wet.
