Word going round subby clubs are opening their wallets.
What difference is it going to make.
The comp is for washed up wanna bes
that never made it to the junction.
Give it up and stop calling yourselves a good comp.

cmca says it all. The CMCA is aweful park cricket on carpet played by very ordinary cricketers. Check their forum to see their priorities. Longmuir shield about VSDCA 3rd's.

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Please talk about the cricket fellas, rather than putting down other associations.

flynn i think his name is

the last to flags in premier cricket went to Ringwood and they were coached by Paul Montgomery and as a good mate I am highly doubting he would leave

Re: Subbies season 09/10

sean flynn was the 1sts captain at ringwood for past few years, , he retired from premier cricket and is at bayswater, announced like in feb last year!

Re: Subbies season 09/10

How are we looking for the season to start when it should?
I think for the past three years the first round has been called off due to under prepared wickets so any news on this year as yet?

any clubs pick up any good players or any otherseas player? or any major losses?

Re: Subbies season 09/10

I was surprised to see that Malvern have appointed Steve Atkins as coach.

He has a lot of marginal experience (eg women's teams and ICC affiliate countries) but the 2 meaty club roles I am aware of him having have both ended in tears.

He was coach of Prahran and had to be 'redeployed' as a forward scout to keep him away from the team.

He also coached Bayswater and had his role re-classified to specialist coach and was told to only coach the lower elevens.

I expect a club of Malvern's standing would have performed the necessary due diligence.

Had a quick scan of Subbie club website and here is the list of new recruits that have been announced on their websites:

Altona - Aaron Maynard - Camberwell Magpies
Balwyn - Ben Hanley - Templeton CC
Bayswater - Sean Flynn - Ringwood
Bundoora - Jesse McInnes - ex Ivanhoe CC
Endeavour Hills - John Hayes - Casey
Kew - Sam McTaggert - Northcote LLoyd Devlin Camberwell Magpies
Ormond - Sam McLeod - NZ
Yarraville - Matthew Love - Footscray

I am sure there are more but they are not mentioned on their club websites.

These already posted earlier in this thread. Flynn and Love look the cream of these.

Goldsmith has left Box Hill for StKilda

Have heard that there may be another Pom at Altona, and Melton, according to their website have picked up a keeper from Sri Lanka. Where is the young keeper from last season playing this year?

Re: Subbies season 09/10

Interesting that Malvern seem to have hidden the chequebook this year. Never heard of this Atkins bloke but their new captain seems an appointment from left field, and suprisingly an appointment from within.
Of those new players, one would think Flynn would be well suited for subbies, given his age, experience and loyalty to the club. As for the sri-lankans and the kiwis, plenty of vsdca clubs have been fooled by some cv spruiking before.
Not sure re. chances to get on round 1, wouldnt want to be fielding on some of the afl utilised grounds at the moment though.
Must be a few praccy games this weekend, I know Brighton are heading down to the bush for a team bonding/praccy weekend. MH

Havent Caulfield poached enough young keepers this season already?

2 points. 1. I don't play for Caulfield, and 2. If I knew where the kid was playing, why would I ask the question.

Does this mean that Monto has moved/been moved on??
