The BaggyGreens Thread

All this IPL crap is ruining test cricket Richie... as you say mate having 4 of your top players well underdone going into a test series is really going to disrupt your performance as an unit, that's almost a third of your starting team.
Yeh Mal it is bloody annoying. CA thinks of nothing but filling their pockets. Imagine if the great Dennis Lillee had been told this.. there'd have been hell to pay. CA shudda told the four .. give IPL a miss and concentrate on the Indians.

Mate I hope to heck he has given away the hook as I believe getting sconed several times created his concussions. The great Steve Waugh gave away the hook and he turned out ok. He has a solid and compact technique and plays the difficult on drive as well as anyone I have seen in the past.. Ponting included.
That's was a very good option mate for Steve Waugh to not play the hook shots anymore - not only takes away a lot of risk of the ball hitting you in the head, it's also a very risky shot to play as you can easily sky the ball straight up in the air to give away your wicket too easily.

Sounds like Pucovski has good footwork to get in line with the ball when defending & to get to the pitch of the ball to play his shots well.

True Richie, CA are just thinking about the money... some of the greats like Lillee would be very peeved off.

It's just crazy that they're rating the smash/bash crap over test cricket.

See what you mean Richie, he has a very solid compact technique, those on drives of his are superb & so effortless... he plays the ball late like all the top players do, really impressed with his footwork off the back & front foot too :thumbsu:

:thumbsu: He only scored a lazy 254 (undefeated) for his state on Saturday. Plenty are pushing for his call up to our Test side. Pronto. Get him in there while still young, fearless and hungry. You gonna make a Kiwi thread in the International Section. You have a series against the Windies shortly. I for one w'd like to hear about that from you.

Yeah will make a NZ International Cricket thread soon mate.

Have they named your squads yet Richie ? ... Pucovski looks like the type of player that should play in all 3 forms of the game.

Yes the white ball squads have been chosen. Good news is Cameron Green gets his first Aussie cap. The rest are the same players used in the last WC. Pucovski may have to wait for his cap tho as talk is the selectors prefer he completes a full domestic red ball season first.

Seems strange that Green is going to get his first Aussie cap, yet Pucovski doesn't get a crack ? they are both about the same age too, early 20's.

Only a year separates the two.. Green still 21. Spot on Mal. White ball cricket is a good format to edge a bloke into the pressure of international cricket. Puck also has gears to his batting so is made for the shorter formats too. I recall he peeled off four centuries from six games in the U19 Nationals as an 18 year old.
CA is a strange animal Mal. They choose blokes to play Test cricket based on their white ball exploits.. as white ball is the game's cash cow and they want their best players in it..

Exactly mate, even though it's white ball cricket it prepares players for the top intensity level of international stuff.
True Richie, it's all about money.

Will do Mal. Will post later.

Abbott is the squad's smokey due to some recent good domestic red ball form. I was shocked when I saw his name. Neser is the Test attacks fringe bowler. He keeps the big three honest and is on injury standby. Swepson is a leggie and in best form of his career. He took four 5 wicket hauls on the trot in his last two red ball domestics. cricinfo will supply you further details mate.
