Unless Trinindad & Tobago also qualify, then yes they will both play.

Also, only people who played at least one game for their team in qualifying can play in the CL, so they would not 'almost have the international side'. SA deserve to be in the Champions League by virtue of being better than all the other teams.

If they win, then of course they deserve the spot, I was just trying to weigh their level against that of the whole world.

NSW only won the CL last time because they had a couple of players that otherwise would not have played for them if it weren't for that competition running. They were the international players, like Lee for example. He only played that game because he was coming back from injury otherwise he wouldn't have been playing at all.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

SA would be very competitive without their international stars, if they perform to their levels. As NSW showed you dont need to be a high scoring team to win it, but its up to the bowlers and 1 good Shaun Tait spell would knock over most of those teams

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Bloody rain want a NSW win.

I think I heard somewhere that they changed it to NRR first?

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

They have? That would be right, the head to head screwed us for years, now they change it. If they used NRR last year then Victoria would have won the Big Bash and NSW never would have qualified for the CL

Oh well, NSW have been eliminated, great result for the competition and makes it pretty simple

Vics, WA and QLD simply need to win and they go through

If Victoria lose then it comes down to NRR between Tassie and the loser of QLD and WA, NSW not a hope in hell now even if they beat SA and Tassie would be struggling to make up the difference

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Vics were too good for Tasmania tonight and earned themselves a spot in the preliminary final. Only two games are left, WA vs Queensland and SA vs NSW.

If WA beat Queensland they will host the Prelim final against Victoria at the WACA. If Queensland win then Victoria will host Queensland in the Prelim at the MCg as Victoria have the better head-to-head record against Queensland in the tournament even though Queensland have the better Net Run Rate.

SA vs NSW has no bearing on the finals although if NSW win they will move off the bottom of the ladder. If SA win they will go through the home and away rounds undefeated.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they have changed it to NRR first this year?

Nice first over from Hogan. Carn WA.

Very nice, but not so good a start to the next over from Knowles :D

Queensland have this wrapped up already. Easy win. ;)

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Hard to know which team we would prefer to face

The GABBA is tougher for batting at times if conditions suit and QLD have the better bowling lineup of these 2 teams

WA's batting is stronger however and Marsh, Ronchi and Gayle are all capable of racking up huge scores

Glad we get Taylor back, with Nannes in form the Vics overall side is stronger than both of these sides but it doesnt take much to lose a T20

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Highest score all year. Would say almost impossibe.

But I am half rooting for the Warriors... I would love to see Marsh and Gayle teeing off together, and then Ronchi coming in for a few overs.

Anything is possible with that opening pair.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

The Vics are heading to the GABBA yet again, I hope they have conditions like tonight rather than what the Vics have been met with the last 2 times they played T20's up there

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Haven't a hope anymore.

I am going to be so happy if QLD actually make it to the finals.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Wes Robinson is a decent batsman but just isn't suited to 20/20 especially in this situation.

Re: Twenty20 Big Bash - 2009/10

Queensland through to the prelims after a shocking start.

Great bowling attack.
