Pretty poor effort. Bowling was pretty bad with the exception of Heal who has been brilliant all tournament and Voges bowled one good over. But the rest were terrible and I suppose our little known bowling attack (with the exception of Noffke) wasn't going to go too far.

Batting was okay but we were chasing too much. Maybe if Gayle got going and stayed in for longer we might have had a chance.

Anyway, Queensland will host Victoria in the Preliminary Final the Gabba (looks like you were right Kram). The winner of that game will play South Australia at the Adelaide Oval in the final.

Seems strange to suddenly eliminate a playing condition, especially one used in most limited overs competitions around the world

I don't mind. I think head to head record is a stupid anyway, the Sheffield Shield and Ford Ranger Cup have fixtures where each team plays each other twice, more often than not both teams will win one game each which would render the head-to-head record useless.

Most competitions for any sport use percentages (or equivalent) to determine ladder position if teams are equal of points. I believe it should be the same for Australian domestic cricket.

For whatever reason, the ICC have always used head to head in limited overs competitions, never been used in the longer format that I have ever noticed anyway

I do note though that the head to head condition still exists in ICC ODI regulations, but due to no T20 competitions other than the world cup existing, they dont have anything about in their T20 regulations, not sure where someone found the CA rules for this years comp. I found last years playing conditions still on the website and this years futures league which doesnt have head to head yet I dont think everyone played each other once anyway

I dont mind it too much, 1 bad game in a short comp and your NRR could be stuffed up and you have to travel to play a team you beat last time

South Australia falling in a massive heap at 9 for 77 batting first, I suppose now is the time to have a bad game instead of the final.

No Afridi and SA's lack of winning anything since ancient times could see them do the same thing in the final

Bravo out of tonight's preliminary final with a hand injury. Should hopefully be a good contest.

Queensland have a major advantage here, have won the toss and elected to bat.

Vettori has also finally decided to turn up for the first game that the Queenslanders will be assisted by an international player.

Ross Taylor in for Victoria, but Bravo out.

Only once this season has a team batted second and won. Looking good.

Qld makes 149, defendable score. Hopes stayed in through the whole innings, but only scored 44 from 55 (80 S/R), just turned the strike over to whoever else was in, but didn't work until Dunk came in and scored a very good 70 from 40 to get Queensland from 5/80 to 5/149.

Play just about to begin for the chase.

First ball Finch flicks Rimmington to short fine leg, where a tough chance was dropped, but should have been held.

Second ball Hopes fields the ball while a quick single is being taken, throws down the bowler's end and almost finds Finch run out after third umpire replays.

Everything is happening.

Hussey and White are in with the Vics 3/73 after 11.2 overs.

Everyone is bowling and batting well, just the batsmen so far have thrown their wicket away.

Both are in for a chance still.

Very good game, just the wrong result.

Victoris wins by 6 wickets with 1.1 overs to spare. Could have been close if Hopes hit out a little at the end of Qlds innings.

You must mean at the GABBA because thats the 3rd time this season Victoria have chased and won

As for Vettori, he played against NSW last week

Great win for the Vics, even without Bravo the QLDers couldnt challenge us

I have to disagree with you once more, Boris - it was not the wrong result at all.

Surely you can't begrudge us downtrodden Vics a spot in the final?:rolleyes:

It was an entertaining game. About time D.Hussey came good. Thankfully someone or other has done the business when needed. It would be nice if they could all chime in for once. Tonight they played pretty well.

Qld would be disappointed maybe over a couple of early chances that went begging (we won't worry about that last one!!!), but when you look at all the players you've lost in recent times, the signs are very good.

For Queensland to go from bottom of the table having lost everything outright, to almost a finals berth is a very good thing to do. I was going to be amazed had we made the final.

I don't not like Victoria because they keep winning and through jealousy, it's just the system down there is very bad on young players and it is why Victorians shouldn't have spots in the international side as a whole. But there is an actual thread on that :D

And Queensland would have had that if Hopes had hit out a little more at the end. Finishing on a 80% strike rate isn't the best for your score after 55 balls.

Very strong performance against a team, quite frankly, should have done better. If you Victorians were half as good as you say they should have cleaned that total up in at least 15 overs against an unproven team altogether.
