Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

Word is?

Richmond ARE relocating to Central Reserve. Been talk about what the name will be, with Waverley Tigers a likely option. The redevelopment of the facility will occur on the top oval, which will eventually be the 1sts/2nds ground, leaving the current main oval to be one of the better 3rds/4ths grounds around.

Think Hawthorn should be feeling more threatened. After the clean out a little while ago, we see people like Entwhistle ending up there again, Tormey wanting to leave, and a club that had three teams in the finals last year moving in nearby.

Absolutely. With Tormey gone next year and a much more successful club moving in around the corner you would thing the next couple of years are make or break for Hawthorn.

Where is Tormey off to? With Ricmond on the move to Glen Waverley/Central Reserve and North Melbourne moving to Greenvale/Roxbrough Park will that be the end of clubs relocationg for the near future? Essendon would be safe now with the football club relocationg to the airport.

I'm not saying that Dale will be off for sure next year, but I do know that he's been sounding out some clubs. Maybe the Hawks will (should) strike some sort of deal allowing him to be their paid player once they are allowed one again, because there could well be a few clubs prepared to take him on for some $$.

Three rounds to go and the fight for the finals spots is certainly on in earnest. With only eight points separating the top eight teams and with four sides within a win of them it is really going to be some nail biting over the next six days of competition.

Premier Cricket. Round 15. Sat Feb5th & Sat Feb 12th. 2-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Footscray Edgewater (6-2-5) vs. Melbourne (6-3-4)
Melbourne University (4-3-6) vs. Hawthorn Monash University (1-1-11)
Northcote (5-3-5) vs. St Kilda (7-3-3)
Frankston Peninsula (5-3-5) vs. Prahran (7-3-3)
Camberwell Magpies (6-4-3) vs. Essendon (3-2-8)
Carlton (8-3-2) vs. Ringwood (6-3-4)
Geelong (7-2-4) vs. Dandenong (7-1-5)
Richmond (3-2-8) vs. Fitzroy Doncaster (5-2-6)
North Melbourne (1-3-9) vs. Casey South Melbourne (7-3-3)

Melbourne Uni and Footscray have lost their Poms. Know that the Students did it by choice, and big Wayne White is back playing in the suburban comps in Melbourne.

Unluckiest player of the year has to be Benbow from Frankston, keeps on taking wickets every time Dutchy isn't playing but has to keep on getting relegated to the 2nds whenever he's available. I haven't seen him personally, but he did darn well in the T20 for the Frangers.

His numbers look fairly ordinary outside of the T20s. Having said that, it looks as though he's got the 5th most wickets amongst the spinners in the comp.

Can you elaborate on what happened to White? Seems out of the blue a club and player parting ways in the middle of the season, especialy instigated by the club as you are suggesting...

Is the Dogs' loss Hamilton-Brown? He wasn't doing a heap for them anyway from memory?

definately not elias here. just seeing what people think of him. might offer him some money to play for us

Team lists on Premier Cricket website shows that Elias is captain tomorrow. That's now 4 different captains this year at HMU - Cookson, Hewat, Tormey and now Elias. I wonder what's happening there ............

Two rounds to go and it couldn't get any tighter as teams jostle for the cherished finals spot. And lurking in the background is the mother of all spoilers - the Melbourne weather. Some juicy matches ahead this weekend, with the highlight being Dandenong (5th) hosting Carlton (1st). A win by either team would secure a finals spot while a loss, particularly by Dandenong would mean a tense final round match.

Ringwood (6-3-5) vs. Camberwell Magpies (7-4-3)
Essendon (3-2-9) vs. Casey South Melbourne (8-3-3)

Any chance the Hawks can be brought back to Glenferrie Oval?? I cant see how 2 teams in basically the same recruiting area will survive and thrive.

Have heard on the grape vine North may be looking to merge with a strong subbies side and move out to a growth corridoor in the north/west of melbourne. Ala Casey-South Melbourne.

North Melbourne ARE relocating to Greenvale/Roxy Park (not 100% which one) and will be playing from this venue in season 2012/13 onwards.

Wow ! What a final round the cricket gods have drawn up for us, with all but two matches having a bearing on the final makeup of the competition for season 2010/2011. Depending on results, naturally, all teams in the top eight could change places, while the four outside looking in will need to win and pray for favorable results.

Premier Cricket. Round 17. Sat 26th Feb & Sat 5th Mar. 2-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Footscray Edgewater (7-2-6) vs. St Kilda (9-3-3)
Melbourne University (5-3-7) vs. Prahran (8-3-4)
Northcote (5-3-7) vs. Frankston Peninsula (7-3-5)
Casey South Melbourne (8-3-4) vs. Ringwood (7-3-5)
Camberwell Magpies (7-4-4-) vs. Dandenong (7-1-7)
Carton (10-3-2) vs. Fitzroy Doncaster (7-2-6)
Geelong (8-2-5) vs. Melbourne (8-3-4)
Richmond (3-2-10) vs. Hawthorn Monash University (1-1-13)
North Melbourne (1-3-11) vs. Essendon (4-2-9)

Let's all hope that there are two full days of cricket so that the results are true and teams make or lose finals spots on their merits.

I agree with most of those selections, but Jones? Taken 20 wickets and half of them were in the 20/20. I will have a go:

Trego
Schlittler
Loorham
Rose/O'Shea: coinflip between the two
