North A And B

Roy I agree on all bar the Abers vs Aber Park game where I'll pick Aberfeldie

Aberfeldie have got a good bowling line up, Shannahan the spinner is having a good year and they have some young mediums Hickmont and Caihr who go well too its at there home ground and they nealy bowled out and won against a top team Laverton a few weeks back

batting for both teams is ordinary though so this could well be an outright game but as discussed recently on this forum Aberfeldie have some bats who should get some scores - grey, nhyus, sri lankan

Aber Parks last 4 innings have seen them score 51/118/63/8-123 so against a team who are strong in the bowling area they will struggle

U make a fair case for Abers & they should be keen to get the job done this week.

For mine (like most of my tips) Albers Park was a gut feel more than anything else & my gut is not as reliable as it used to be, soon it'll be time to wear nappies i reckon.

Also i remeber APark has had a wood on Aber since NTH B days and core of the park side is still there. For me that counts for somethin? So will be interesting to see how things work out.

just had a look at there recent results and the story is different to what you would assume Roy

10/11 North A
R8 Abers won 8/193 off 80 with Aber Park all out 100 then Abers 2/131

09/10 North B
R4 Abers won 1day game by 1 run
R8 Aber Park smashed them with a similar reversed result to the 10/11 season

Abers were in Nth A while Aber Park in Nth B prior to then

so 2 to 1 in favour of Abers

Intresting. I would think the side that has won 4 games and currently 4th would be favorite ahead of the side that has won just 1 game and is 8th. Aberfeldie the biggest dissapointment for mine. I backed them in for the top 2.

Question for any abers blokes - Is Nyhus still capt/coach of abers. If so, has he been reappointed for another 5yrs. You would think this year is an improvement on his record? Pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) that he has taken the club to bottom every other year he has capt. So 8th with 1 win is an improvement yeah?

This guy must make one hell of a sandwich to be at the club for so long.

Interesting comments re: Pizaro at St.Albans. The bloke must be getting on a bit, and 9 wickets seems like a poor return for big bickies - but he really hasn't bowled that much! Is that because he has been hurt - In which case probably not the best dollar spend by the Saints, or has he been prepared to sit back and Clutts and Tommy do the damage? If this is the case then was he recruited for percieved cricket expertise? Both their ones and twos haven't dropped a game yet this year so the coaching side seems to be travelling well. Any Saints blokes care to comment?
Intersesting game Lavo vs. St Albans this week. Best bowling line up in the comp vs. best bat. Sounds like the consesus is if Swallow gets runs Lavo get over the line. I don't think it has any bearing on finals though. They'll finish top two.
AP's batting is atrocious and they will struggle to hang on to a spot in the four. Abers big dissappointment. Moonee Valley coming home with a rush, and I reckon they will sneak into the finals, and the last spot a battle between Lakes and East Keilor, provided Brodie keeps posting scores. 190 on the weekend - amazing effort. Seem to remember him getting 200 for Youlden-Parkville a few years back too.

Trent Milne is the key to MV making the finals, not a bad bat....

Weekend result and your stats above proves that my gut ain't going so well.

going into this rnd, Just thought that APark would put up a better fight to stay in the 4 and
M Albers would churn out a big score with one/two of their batters chimming in with 30s but with that batting display
their bowlers neve had a realistic chance. So good on Aberlfeldie, much needed points for them.

St Albans - may still win this but looks like their batting may again let them down come the big final.
was it one of those brittle/crumbling St Albans pitches, favouring the bowlers?

It was one of those brittle/crumbling St Albans pitches, very poor infact (under-prepared), inconsistent bounce etc.

Not surprised, If that's the case. can't remeber the last time i played on a decent wicket there.
Wonder if it's deliberate or they've genuine issues with the oval there.

Not sure if its deliberate, but i think theres some issues with the oval, I really thought it would look better than it did, the outfield was ok but the massive problem is with the centre wicket area. The pitch was green in one part and completely dead in others, one end played ok but the other end one ball would bounce heaps followed by a ball that would grub along the ground. Had 2 guys who fell foul of the pitch, the laverton opener was bowled by a ball that pitched on a good length and bounced so low it only rose to about his ankle, and another one who when he tried to avoid a short-ball it actually bowled him because the ball after contact with the pitch only bounced between ankle and shin height.

I thought Aberfeldies pitch was bad but St. Albans just about takes the cake. for a score of 18/160, shows a lack of preparation in the pitch or a much more serious problem with the ground

interesting weekend in west b1. we won outright and later found out that 2 sides above us kingy baptists and barkly street both also winning outright. what i found most interesting was that in the avondale heights vs kingy game a total of 44 overs were bowled in the first innings 65.3 in the second innings leaving 50 overs to be bowled in the last innings. i find it extremely interesting that after 49.4 overs avondale heights innings was closed with 3 batsmen marked down as absent.... somethings fishy

Kingy Avo result very strange for sure.
Losing first innings is fair enough but having 3 blokes absent and gifting Kingy an outright.. what the?
Read on this forum that Avo were coming off 3 wins 5th on the ladder and Kingy 4th, with finals birth on line this result is a disaster, also heard that the previous week against Altona AH were one short in the 2nd week of that game, can anyone confirm that.
From an outsider looking in, shame to see a club once very competitive in NTH A now content with making up the
numbers in the lowest grade in VTCA, looks like they deliberately don't wanna make the 4, somehting very wrong at that joint.

:) may be.
i guess a man's gotta make a living somehow. Dunno anyone who would put weekend game of cricket over
their livelihood.
Tip for seabrook supporters, when AH batting get a cab back home so they don't have to get all 10 avo wickets.
To avo blokes on this forum sorry fellas, hope no offence taken, just a cheap joke.

big results in North A 7 sides can now finish 3rd or 4th

Edrich on fire getting 99 after a 190 a week earlir he has just about caughht Swallow for runs

Obrien has the mpst wickrts with Shannahan and Clutton behind him is it a sign of the wickts being prepared that 2 spinners are leading the high wicket takers

i dont know about giving up seems a bit more sinister than that to me. they were 2 for 102 in the second inning to be 7 for 104 with 3 batsmen absent....
