Re: Country Week 2008/2009

The players to feel the axe:

Barry Tsitas (Grovedale)
Brendan Meagher (Geelong City)
Damien Koliba (Newcomb & Dist)
Danny Hughes (Lara)
Drew Allen (East Belmont)
Gareth Yelland (Grovedale)
Gary Kelson (Grovedale)
Heath Bush (Bell Post Hill)
Mike Chapple (Geelong West)
Rod Kiddle (Leopold)
Sam Hall (North Geelong)
Sam Loftus (Geelong West)
Tim Clark (Newtown)
Travis Faulkhead (Bell Post Hill)

Obviously some players made themselves unavailable, would be nice to know who they were. Surely Loftus was unavailable or he'd be in the mix.

He would've been one of the first non-selections out of the 30, performance last year or not. Not taking anything away from him, he is a very good player who will only get better, at the moment there are plenty top order bats ahead of him. Pitts, Baars, Smiljanic, Bambury, Talarico, Peterson would all bat in the top 3 in front of him who were in the 18.

Players from the final team of last season who performed admirably weren't selected in the initial 30, just shows how much un-availabilty there was last season.

Re: Country Week 2008/2009

why would loftus not be in ? equal best if not second best all rounder in geelong with good experience at high level. unavailable or not in good enough form, his stats look ok this year so far:confused:

Re: Country Week 2008/2009

Fair side Ants.

13 man squad would add Nguyen for the next generation and the fact that he is a gun.
Scowny stiff after last years performance not even getting in 18. Anyone know why Harps not available??
