The BaggyGreens Thread

An even 200 for India to win now. Talk about building the morale of your opposition. CA need to sack Starc for the upcoming Saffer tour .

Gill is going to be a top young batsman... but that was an awful shot he played to lose his wicket.
With a new batsman in hope you can start chipping a few out Craig.

A good knock but while we tied up Pujara we gave Gill more freedom. Not sold on him yet mate. He tends to play away from his body. Needs to be more compact. Also needs to cover his off stump better. He will be found out on a deck that is doing something.

Finally Lyon strikes.
Betting India send in Pant ahead of Rahane as Starc's diabolical spell will give them hope they can chase down this target.
No it is Rahane. Surprised.

Josh is peppering Pujara with some lethal bouncers. Dont like that he is being hit.. rather he was nicking off to catchers.

Doesn't take much to tie up Pujara, all he basically does is play defensive shots 🙂 ...yeah Gill needs to be more compact,
think he's only 21 so he'll probably work on his weakness of playing away from his body too much etc, but it's whether batsmen learn from their mistakes is what counts.

That man Cummins again. Just that touch quicker than his mate and Jinx mistimed the ramp over slips. Now Pant has entered. Need him cheaply as he scores riskily but quickly.

Sorry Pete have to disagree. It takes persistence, accuracy and discipline. Just because Pujara stonewalls does not mean he can not play his shots when given the chance. Our best men Pat & Josh smother him and hopefully pressure him into a mistake so he cant wear down our attack with his exceptional concentration and resilience. Just like he is doing now.

I can now see the rest batting around Pujara with India chasing down these runs. The expected assistance from cracks has not eventuated so this track remains good for batting.

The new ball may bring some luck.. tho not betting the house on it.

Reckon a mixture of Pujara's 211 balls and the hot/humid conditions took its toll on our two quality quicks. Cummins and Hazlewood looked short of juice in the final session.

Gotta hand it to the Indian character. Did we allow complacency to creep in? This will hurt Australia's WTC chances now.

Sure, he'll play shots against very bad deliveries - but what I'm saying is there are also plenty of times he could work singles into gaps as well without taking too much risk, he doesn't have to bore us all to death in the process.

Congrats to India, well deserved win - Craig, didn't think much of Paine's captaincy skills though, his handling of his bowlers & tactics in the field were pretty poor, allowing the Indian batsmen to settle in too easily... a captain can't just rely on how well his bowlers are performing, also has to really put the squeeze on in the field when needed.

Spot on mate. Pujara does need to rotate strike more. Yes Paine lacked proactivity in the clutch moments. I reckon the duel captaincy/keeping workload is starting to take his toll.. that is borne out in his spilling catches he'd normally take. Perhaps time to remove the extra burden of captaincy. He says he has no intention of standing down so CA may have to make the decision for him. But who to hand over the reins to? Smith does not seems to be in favor. Not sure Cummins wants or needs the extra pressure. CA may take a punt on Labuchagne.

Tests may be over for us Pete but not all red ball cricket is. Your domestic comp is ongoing and ours is due for a resumption. Got an idea. How about we have a single thread for both our comps. Call it Australasian Domestic Cricket perhaps. That way we can better follow how each others players are traveling.
