The Covid Menace.

Getting my booster jab this afternoon, administered again by my daughter live and in person.🤗 Thought I wouldn't need her assistance again but no chance in this neck of the woods despite those many unjabbed people.
Will be driving in my new car the second time knowing there is not a second one on the road right now. ☺

Very nice interior Thomas 😍

Is your daughter a nurse? It's great that she's getting things done for you 👍

Like you two this Omicron variant has found its way to our shores. Detected at a test point at Sydney's Kingsford-Smith Airport with the infected sent into isolation immediately.
This new varient is inbetween Delta and the first covid strain. It's not that bad if you're vaccinated. You can still get it but the symptoms aren't as bad and you won't need hospitalisation.

Thanks, Jessica.

No, she's a doctor of medicine and a medical specialist and because we didn't get an appointment for the first two jabs she slotted us in and vaccinated us herself. And now she had to do it again because other appointments would be far too late (23rd Dec).

"inbetween Delta and the original strain"? I read Omicron is a new mutant in line that has developed from Delta. The only data that we have right now is those from SA and it says that it's way too early to make any valid assertions as to how severe the disease progression, especially among the elderly, will be. All those cases treated in SA were young and middle-aged patients. There's anecdotal evidence, though, that small children might be at risk this time.

That's great about your daughter 🤗
She must be very intelligent!

Good news re your booster shot Thomas. We will now have ours a month earlier than the government originally offered us. Also hearing that Australia is to make the Moderna vax from next year. And good news for my son with Novavax on its way here.

NSW case numbers: 1360

Victorian case numbers: 1489

Be aware of Omicron which is the new strain floating about. Spreads quicker but is milder with it's symptoms

Was reading UK has a record 78K of cases and Germany 55K. Yes this Omicron is more virulent but less deadly than previous variants. Is Covid running out of puff. We all hope so.

In Germany the figures are still almost exclusively based on Delta. Omicron will take over as from January. Still unclear how it will affect the elderly.

We may be going into lockdown on Boxing Day, covid cases are soaring here and our hospitals are getting pretty busy.

Soaring in Greater Sydney too (4K). But our Premier and PM are adamant Australia has to start living with Covid as we have one of the largest double-vaxed rates in the world.

Omicron is on the rise in Oz. Nothing compared to what it is doing to Europe and America. Good news is the scientists are saying it is less dangerous than past variants. In fact if you contract Omicron it aids against contracting Delta.
