Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat 2009/10

Just a bit of an update:
There is still plenty of issues to sort out with the fixtures with clubs still looking for grounds and clubs withdrawing sides over the last couple of days. Everytime a club withdraws a team, the whole fixture has to be re-done. There are issues with all three turf grades and the A non turf grade in regards to venues.
A club is even meeting tonight to decide whether they will be withdrawing one of thier turf sides.
Fixtures should be out by Monday. Can't help it if clubs haven't got thier act together in preparation for the season.

Thats a fair comment bomber, maybe before others bag the mmvca about fixtures and so forth have a little compassion for those blokes doing it, im sure they would be more than happy for those complaining to volenteer their time to the mmvca to help out. Its a unrewarding job and we should be thankfull to those who give up there time to do it..

WHO?
WHO?
Sunshine will struggle to win a game this year.
They were a pretty good bturf side last year with some good players.
They beat us pretty easy, but its a big jump into aturf unless they have
recruited a few good quality players.

Lets get everyones tips for round 1:
Mine would be:
Sunshine heights- very good variety of bowlers especially in one dayer and this could prove to be the upset of the round.
St Marys-too strong with both bat and ball babo gets a ton they are a chance.
West Coburg-Appleyard is the difference between the two and will tear through there batting.
Barkly Strret-Really rate them as a good one day side but toss of the coin really.
St Andrews-Too good for Easts across the board
Merlo-Ycw the unknown factor could play a part but i think merlo too strong!!!;)

Bomber, Socials will be pulling out one of our matting sides. Due to council moving us to the second ground from the ground that we have been playing at for 30 years. Blokes will not play on the second ground.
Pascoe Vale United is not the only club to be shafted by the council.

Sadly the days are gone when cricket was important to the local community, unfortunately 11 white anglo blokes whacking a red leather ball and sinking grog after a match is no longer high on the council's priority list.........those were the good old days!!

Old School, I believe from what I have seen is that you guys have both your teams playing on one ground and PVU have thier two teams on the other.

even though that is sad to hear, its still not really the same i wouldn't think. you were still at the same venue ,it wasn't as if you were moving to a completely different ground or suburb .
