He always has been, but never an exceptional standout. He is just the quiet achiever in the background and I didn't actually see him coming. He will always be doing well no matter what it is, he can bat too, used to be considered and all rounder but has moved on to concentrate on what he does best, but is of the Johnson sort of quality now, so really does strengthen the tail with Hauritz coming in before him, and then if Hopes is making a return that is one strong tail happening with Haddin moving to open one would think, unless Hopes takes that role again.

Harris is just one of those bowlers you won't remember but will get the job done, I prefer him a lot more than the Test bowlers we have in there. A true specialist.

Plus I'd like to say he's a Queenslander but he isn't :(

I would keep McKay ahead of him just as the selectors have done and the QLDers have whinged about because he adds batting depth :D

Hauritz would always bat ahead of him no doubt

Hopes is a bit of a psuedo all-rounder, couldn't get even close to making the team on one ability alone ;)

That is a myth about an all-rounder having to make the team on one ability alone. You could name all the cricketers on one hand that ever could have truly made the team based on either batting or bowling.

Hopes is a great utility player and will always give you somethig with the bat or the ball or in the field.

TBH I was being a bit facetious LtD, in one day games you can certainly pick players like that but on the serious side it's a not a very good idea at all in Tests imo.

See what happens when a guy is meant to be playing for Australia plays for Australia. They don't meandre along for 6 months before doing anything notable, they get right in there and do what they do best and make the most of their chance.

Good little South Australian.

Spare us from hailing him as your man though, Boris. Although you've said up front he's no true banana-bender, you're talking as though you've said he should've be in there all along. In fact, he's about the only bloke from north of the Murray who you haven't said should be in the team.

Maybe a bit of balance amongst your favourites & dislikes.

I said earlier that I never saw him coming, a few posts ago. He is one of those quiet achievers that just slugs away and gets back with results. Never really thought of him as much, more a failed all rounder that was reduced to bowling some handy seamers, but not much more. I have actually been proven wrong with these performances.

If he gets a five-for in the next match he equals the record set by Wasim Akram for most in a row, be interesting to see if he can back up his claims so far or if he disappears into the distance.

What I was saying though is that a youngster should always make a good impression first up, blasting out of the blocks, before settling down and playing 'normally'. Now we get to see if his 'normal' is good enough because there isn't a way he can be dropped now one would think.

Wicketless and failed with the bat, the perfect bits and pieces player, may as well just bring Johnson in for Hopes next game
