Pakistan vs Australia March-April 2022

Thankfully they didn't bat for longer, thought they would.

Pakistan were too conservative with the bat in my opinion, at 1/313 at one stage you would think they'd be a bit more aggressive to try and force the issue and reach 500+ but it seems they were happy to go at their own pace. Their overall run rate for their first innings was 2.93 which isn't bad but on such a flat deck I would have thought they'd try and accelerate and get the run rate in excess of 3.50 and therefore bat less overs overall.

Australia are 2/271 at stumps, play was called off early due to some drizzle at the ground. Play will commence at 9:45am local time (4:45am UTC, 15 minutes early) to make up for lost time. Australia trail by 205 runs so there is still some work to do for Australia in this game, I would think they will aim to bat for at least two sessions tomorrow and perhaps up the ante to get some sort of lead provided things go to plan for them.

I see Usman went all Koala in the 90s and blew a ton.

Not a great shot if I'm honest, totally unnecessary at that stage of the game. The field was spread at that point and there were other shots that could have been used to score the runs required.

Still, Khawaja played a good innings at a decent clip on flat deck and further cements his spot in the side in my opinion.

2-271 at stumps. Khawaja threw away an important ton, Warner looked ok. Marnus and Smithy set for a big partnership today to wipe out the deficit. Pointing towards a draw at this stage.

New ball and a careless drive account for Marnus. The delay has certainly now put paid to a result. Will Smith Green and Head now use remaining time for batting practice or does Cummins have a declaration behind on his mind to try to create a result tomorrow..

Bad light stops play late in the day with Australia 7/449, trailing by 27 runs.

Barring some sort of last day shenanigans, this match seems headed for a draw.

wtf was that Cam.. out for 48 and a waste of a good start.

5 for 407.
Cam not the only one to throw it away with a risky sweep..Ussie and Smithy did too. Marnus also played a careless shot. Compare this with the way the opposition batted and it was against a far better attack than they have. Still scores are almost on a par. So what is the state of play this morning. Declare and try to bowl em out cheaply. Pakistan is notorious for being hot and cold so there may still be a window for a result.

Most likely couldn't see the ball due to the poor visibility from the weather

The last day saw the match finish in a rather predictable draw. Australia were bowled out quickly early on day five, adding only 10 runs to finish on 459 all out. Nauman Ali claimed 6/107 was the game's best bowler on what was a very flat pitch.

Pakistan batted for 77 overs today, reaching 0/252 at stumps before both sides decided to end the game 21 overs early. Abdullah Shafique scored his maiden test century, finishing 136 not out while Imam-ul-Haw remained not out on 111, his second century in the game and the first Pakistan player to do that since 2014. Imam-ul-Haq was Player of the Match for his twin centuries in the match.

The series heads to Lahore now for the second test which begins on Saturday. Hopefully we'll see a much better pitch at Gaddafi Stadium than the one that was produced here.

Cummins just as bad with the reviews as Paine was.

Certainly not a great one although not sure anyone heard anything. It would have been worth the review anyway given the state of the innings at that point and that the match was headed for a draw anyway.

We seem to love bashing our skippers over this bloody DRS. A review is almost always the result of a quick whip round of opinions.. Cummins and Paine as the captain only makes the final decision. Other nations skippers dont always get a review correct either not only ours.

Praying for a decent cricket wicket in the next match. Our quicks bowled 230 overs with the solitary wicket by our skipper. PCB may face censure by ICC over this track. For bringing Test cricket into disrepute. ;). Seriously this was not a pitch worthy of Test cricket.

CA drop Hazlewood for leggie Swepson. CA pet Starc survives yet again.
Australia XI: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins (c), Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Swepson

Mitchell Starc,
This bloke can thank his lucky stars he is a left armer as CA feels having one in your attack provides variety. Starc can also be grateful that Australian cricket has not produced a quality left armer in state cricket while he has been around. Well there were two Behrendorff and Paris.. but both have spent a good deal of time out with injury. Somehow Starc rarely is injured.

Karachi deck looks as dead as the last one. Perhaps Josh Hazlewood wont mind missing out here as not much in it for a specialist seamer.
